Fixing under attenuation by adding sugar post ferment?

Thanks for talking me down off the ledge, everyone. Held out and this beer finished off at 1.016; exactly where I was aiming for. The only reason I got nervous was usually my beers finish off within a week, especially using American yeasts from big starters. I also am dry/wet hopping with a...

Fixing under attenuation by adding sugar post ferment?

Guilty on the typo. I meant 390 billion cells. Looks like ill try rousing the yeast a bit before I look at other options. Thanks for the feedback, all!

Fixing under attenuation by adding sugar post ferment?

I used Wyeast American II. Pitched a starter with about 3.9 billion cells. Fermented at the top of the suggested range (70-72*F) for a week now. Haven't tried rousing yet, but I'm going to give it a shot first.

Fixing under attenuation by adding sugar post ferment?

I brewed, what I was hoping to be, a wet hop IIPA last weekend. SG=1.080. I was hoping to get a FG around 1.016-.018 but wound up with a FG of 1.023. I mashed in a little high, at 153*F, but I thought I would at least break 1.020. Can I dry this beer out by adding some dissolved sucrose to...

    Beer gone bad?

I have the same thing in my RIS. Same timeframe. Planning in bottling this weekend, but not sure if its going to be OK. Sample tastes fine, but I'm leary. Any feedback on this?

    1st Home Grown Hops

I did. Maybe they're just off to a slow start sure to the cooler weather we've had since I planted? I'll try to take a peek at them before I throw in the towel.

    1st Home Grown Hops

Did you wind up restarting by planting crowns, or are those sprout photos from the original rhizomes? I've had 6 rhizomes in the ground for almost 6 weeks and have 0 sprouts to show for it. I'm more than a little nervous.

Any way to beef up OG after pitching?

Thanks for the explanation h22lude. I used a calculator on a Brewzer app I have, but it didn't explain the "why" to how much I needed to add. Prost!

Should I plant rhizomes vertically or horizontally?

It's been almost a month since I planted my rhizomes. It's been a bit cool here (40-55F) in MN since the 70F weekend that I planted, so I expected a slower growth rate. My issue is that where I planted them, there is also some well established perennial flowers planted by my home's previous...

Any way to beef up OG after pitching?

Had to add about 14oz. of DME boiled in about a quart of H20. Feeling much better about the potential of this beer now. Thanks for the response!

Any way to beef up OG after pitching?

2nd no sparge BIAB attempt today missed OG. Did a Bavarian Hefe shooting for 1.049, but only hit 1.042. At first I thought I'd just let 'er rip and let the chips fall where they may, but of course after mulling over the idea of a mild-ish ABV Hefe I'm now wondering if theres anything I can do to...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Doing my first AG batch on St. Patty's Day. Imperial mild. Thinking about aging a few gallons on Brandy soaked oak. Could be epic!

Should I plant rhizomes vertically or horizontally?

Thanks for the info B-Hoppy. Talk about going the extra mile!

Should I plant rhizomes vertically or horizontally?

I ordered from Northwest Hops. Quite a bit less expensive than the LHBS. www.northwesthops.com

Should I plant rhizomes vertically or horizontally?

That's a good point B-Hoppy, I am planting 3 different varietals-Cascade, Willamette, and Nugget. I don't want them to all run together once they have root systems established, so it sounds like vertical is the way to go? Second question-the rhizomes I got through the mail yesterday had very...
