    Kegco Mill?

I’m not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze for a mill at this price point. Time will tell, but I think it’s going to last longer then I need it to.

    Kegco Mill?

If you do test your roller. Pull it out of the body, and test the corner of it. No needed to mess up some perfectly good knurling.

    Kegco Mill?

MM states theirs are heat treated 1144. ‘Cold rolled’ and ‘heat treated’ are typically not used interchangeably. You’re absolutely correct, cold working steel increases tensile strength at the cost of ductility. But that is not the same heat treating and tempering.

    Kegco Mill?

Hey, I’m not bashing the mill, I’m happy with my purchase. Im just stating, none of the official documentation states the rollers are heat treated or hardened, and my empirical evidence supports that. We don’t need to get into a pissing match on metallurgy, but these are not heat treated...

    Kegco Mill?

I just bought one of those. Quality seems quite nice. The blue plastic came off pretty easy if I went nice and slow. I can confirm, the rollers are definitely not hardened steel. I’m not sure where that notion came from, but they are definitely not. A file digs right into the roller. Files...

Double IPA Stone Enjoy By IPA

Nope. It's 6oz of dry hops for a 6gal batch. Stone uses 1lb per bbl of dry hops each of Nelson and Galaxy. That's roughly 3oz ea.

    Good beer destinations in Phoenix?

Four Peaks in Tempe. The weather is spectacular, it's half indoor, half outdoor, and not far from the airport. Great beer. They had two beers take home medals at the great American beer festival this year. Great food, hip, happening, and plenty of ASU coeds roaming around. Highly recommended.

Sure, I purge the keg with CO2, rack into it, toss in my dry hops and seal it up. Then I purge the headspace with Co2. The mistake I made a first was trying to open the keg at room temp, it will blow up on you. Foam and hops everywhere. Chill it to at least 50F before you open it to add more...

Stone hops the mash with calypso. I don't think they are really necessary. Play around with it. Target was on their blog when talked about the beer at first. I couldn't tell you what's there now. Carb to 2.4vol or so. I want to say it was like 1.5tsp gypsum and .5tsp calcium chloride per...

Calculated IBU for this recipe is well north of 100. Well north. So don't worry about that. And northern brewers hop shot calculator is way the F off. 1ml of hopshot equates to 2AAU. Or a 5ml hopshot equates to 1oz of a 10% hop. So add one oz of a 10% hop, or .75oz of a 15% hop. You...

    Monitoring Fermentation temps

I put this together: http://www.bertusbrewery.com/2013/04/how-to-monitor-your-fermentation-temps.html Works pretty awesome. Here are my temps in real time: http://www.bertusbrewery.com/p/temp-monitor.html This is obviously the hi-tech approach

Centennial would be fine to sub for Belma. Just something fruity. The only hops you really can't sub are galaxy and Nelson Sauvin.

Check my blog in my signature, it's like 1 or two posts down. It turns out fantastic with American yeast. WLp007 gets it a little closer, but 090 I think makes a better beer. Try it with 090, you won't be disappointed.

    Pitching from slurry question

Rack off as much beer as you can. Sanitize a stainless spoon or something, and gently mix up the yeast a trub. You want everything at the bottom of the fermenter to be even and homogenous. Measure out your 60ml, and toss it in the new batch. Personally, I'd plan for a little extra trub, and...

    Simcoe at 11.7%

Simcoe is grown on three different farms, and varying lots are tested with some variance. So I wouldn't try to guess the crop year by the alpha acid %.
