Chocolate peanut butter stout round two!

That's not much than what I pay. 6$ a jar with tax so that's about on par, for me at least. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Number40fan, you're correct. That is where I purchased my first round of this beer. Both were all grain brews for me. I've got a buddy about to brew a extract of the same. We bought local this time saved about 10$. What did the pb2 run you on ebay? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Chocolate peanut butter stout round two!

One thing I definitely recommend is let the secondary site a minimum of three weeks. The longer it sits the better the PB flavor will be. After letting a pint warm up the PB taste is stronger at the finish. The roasty malt flavor is a great compliment to this beer. Sent from my iPhone using...

Chocolate peanut butter stout round two!

You can buy it at most grocery stores, amazon, or bell plantation directly. The pb2 is supposed to be a "normal" peanut butter when mixed with water. When adding in to secondary (just powder no water) it cakes at the bottom. Very annoying to clean IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Chocolate peanut butter stout round two!

All grain. I'll post the recipe ASAP. I used a list from allaboutduncan.com. From the samples and the readings it's already better than my first. Starting gravity 1.06. After three consecutive readings of 1.02 it's done. I'm moving to secondary tonight. Will post pics and recipe later tonight...

    Yeast starter, not enough?

Thanks for the replies everyone. And Dave I appreciate the steps you gave in detail.

    Yeast starter, not enough?

Sorry for the confusion. The beer is to have an og of 1070. The starter is about 035.

    Yeast starter, not enough?

Thanks for the insight. It's a rough clone (all grain) of arrogant bastard. The OG wasn't really specified so I presume it would be around 1070 or so. I could do a second yeast starter after this is done. I guess, I was more concerned with whether the yeast would actually do they are supposed...

    Yeast starter, not enough?

I made a yeast starter last night, this is my second one ever made. And I have a Cali ale smack pack. I only added 2.5 cups water to 1/2 cup DME. Would that still produce a decent yeast starter or should I start over?

    Thoughts on this stout

Added cold brew coffee to a secondary yesterday. Let it set for 24 hours. I'm now going to add more cold brew to it and keg it. I figure this way it's more coffee and after it's in the keg I can just connect the gas and go.

    Chocolate Covered Beavr Nutz

Sweet to hear. I'm going to brew this again after a few months pass by. I have a coffee stout about to enter the keg.

    Thoughts on this stout

So my brew had issues cooling and the blowoff tube passed water star San mix in to the Carboy. I re-aerated the wort but I think the yeast is dead. I pitched higher than I normally do. It was around 90 or higher. Don't ask why because I don't know why I did. So the question; if I can't get...

    Thoughts on this stout

I got this simple recipe for the forum but can't remember who wrote it or the thread title. However; when I wrote it down I forgot to include 4oz oat malt. I think the stout will still be good, but if some of you believe the beer will be better with the oat malt or a chocolate malt please let me...
