This is the perfect crossroads beer for people who don't drink hoppy beers. If it did not say Budweiser on the label it would be a top seller. It does not taste like Bud and is my fav
AB product. I bottle all my brews in this glass.
Unmalted barley syrup is used in many Macro brews it is much lighter in color. Black malt extract is just that BLACK and is used to adjust color and add roasted flavors.
Gee that never occurred to me, No my last brew was a Oatmeal Stout. I have read that 2 row is a better base malt so I thought maybe someone who has excess might want to try using some 6 row that might better suit another style to brew.
Added 2gal of water at 2nd fermentation. Ended up with just under 5 gallons. Bottled with 3/4 cup priming sugar for 14 days and I am very happy how it turned out.
I just did a brew on MLK day, 10 degrees outside. I kept my mash tun cooler in the basement. Heated strike water in the garage then transferred to tun in the basement with no problems. The problem I had was doing an open boil in the garage at 10 degrees and low humidity left me short on wort...
I was curious about boil off rates being larger in the cold temp. That makes sense. I also had difficulties with trying to filter off the hot break and hop plug when transfer from boil pot to wort cooler, used funnel with filter and a hand held strainer. (Kept clogging up) This is where a...
Brewing in winter is difficult. While trying to be prepared I moved my sanitized pump and reverse wort cooler to the garage where my brew pot was fired up. When my 60min boil was done I connected the rf cooler and plugged in the pump and everything had frozen 10 degrees F. I lost some wort...
Thanks for responding, I decanted and made up another starter. I also added the rest of the yeast cake that was left (less than a cup) fermentation started within an hour. I also think it will be alright. Just do not want to put in all the effort and not get fermentation. This is all new to me...
Where do I go from here? Have used a small cake saved and made a starter using a qt. of water and 1/2 cup of DME, Using a growler and airlock I got fermentation but not a lot of action. I didn't feel it propagated well enough,So I then checked the FG from the starter and it was 1.010 I was...
I have found a titration rate of 12.5ppm 1oz to 26gal and 25ppm 1oz to 13gal online. This I figured works out to 25ppm =2.27cc (45.4drops) per gal or 12ppm = 1.37cc (27.2 drops) per gal.
Can anybody verify this?
