when do I put in the wort chiller?

Brewing my first full boil batch with a propane cooker. When do I put in the wort chiller?

what does good crushed grain look like?

Getting ready for my first AG batch, and I need to know what my crushed grain should look like. Anyone have any good pictures? :mug:

    Has anybody done this before?

I recently bought a twelve pack of Sam Adams White Ale and I'm not too crazy about it. I recently tried Dogfishhead 90-Minute IPA for the first time ever and every since then everything else just seems too mild for me. So, in a (drunken) effort to up the bitterness on this, I took a pinch of...

    Utah is considering legalizing homebrew!

The Free the Hops movement here in Alabama just got a law introduced here to legalize homebrewing (among other brew related laws). I wish Utah the best of luck in getting this passed. That way hopefully AL will finally de-criminalize my hobby. I'm hoping state legislators wouldn't take to kindly...

American Amber Ale Red Rye Ale

I'm thinking on brewing this as my first AG batch. What does it taste like? Does it have the typical rye sweetness?

    general recipe guidelines for malt

I'm about to start all grain brewing and was wondering if there was a general rule-of-thumb for how much malt to include in my recipe? I'm thinking about making a dark rye ale recipe of some sort.

    conditioning beer

Conditioning will work magic on some beers. I made a porter once that tasted like laughing gas (don't know why) after it finished carbing. I gave it two weeks to condition, and it turned out to be the best porter I've ever had. No laughing gas taste at all.

I want to personally extend my thanks to you for sending me to that site! I just got a great deal on a 15.5 gallon keggle, and the last one too! Cheers! :mug:

    kettle size

I'm working on switching to all grain and am looking to buy a turkey fryer kit to handle the full boil. Is the 32 quart kettle large enough to boil the 7 gallons of water needed to brew? I'm really trying to get this on a budget (having to save for a wedding at the moment) and I really can't...

How are you sparging? Did you build/buy something?

    AG equipment on a budget

Hey all, I am really wanting to start AG, but I am not completely sure on all of the equipment I need. I was going to make my mash/lauter tun out of a big cooler like I've seen many other people do. Other than that, what do I need to get this stuff going?

    Whadya Munch When You Drink?

Anytime I have Guinness I usually have a couple of Reisens chocolates with it. The flavors don't really mesh that well, but I like it! I also have english muffins with any sort of beer, they always seem to go well together for me.

You could put someone's eye out!

Yeah, we don't have basements in alabama. You'd think Jesus said he hated them in The Bible or something. Not a basement in the whole state. I envy you yankees and your basements and walk in attics :(
