I just tried my "pumped up" batch. Super tasty and very rummy even without sitting on the chips yet! It's down to 1.04 so still a long ways to go. Going to be awhile before it's ready but I liked what I tasted today!
I left for a business trip last weekend. Hops were super green, flourishing, with cones to be seen.
I got back 9 days later and think my wife forgot to water them :(
Or maybe it was just too hot for them. Them being 2nd year Fuggles and Tatnager. It is California and it was 100+ for...
Bottled a case of Everything's Peachy wine. Bottled a case of Apfelwein. Transferred a 5 gallon Skeeter Pee. Harvested the yeast and started another batch of Apfelwein. Kegged a batch of Berliner Weisse and a batch of Creme Ale. Brewed a batch of Pirate Ale. Yeah it's been a busy brew weekend!
My pipeline is strong. I plan on aging it as long as it needs! I'll let you know where it ends up.
Honestly, this is my #1 favorite recipe to brew. WHEN I move to the Caribbean and open a brewery, a derivative of this will be my flagship.
I have made quite a few batches of this. I am upping the "strong" aspect of it this time:
6 lbs light DME
4 lbs of brown sugar
I pitched on top of a previous yeast cake and this morning is chuggin like a freight train. Measured OG 1.0920 (actually 22% brix reading). Estimated ABV 12.9% if I...
Backyard Rose. It's almost a year old. Amazing what this little "hobby" has taught me.
Here's a toast to all of you sipping the fruits of your labor. Sometimes I get choked up thinking about it.
That usually means I am well on my way to being drunk. /CHEERS!

WOW! What a day! Don't hate us, cause you anus! (Interview reference)
Friend swung by house at 7AM and we were in Santa Rosa a little after 8AM. We parked the truck the cruised over. I guessed the line was a little more than 100 people when we got there. My buddy went to the front and...
Dear Russian River Brewery,
I know your posted capacity is 135 but I just counted and am number 137 in line. Can you really not find room for 5 more people!
Signed,
Waiting not-so-patiently...
8 AM and the line is long but I'm psyched! Took the day off of work to drink beer! Any other HBT'ers out here?
UPDATE: I posted the entire experience on Pst #36 in this thread. Page 4 :)
That's interesting. I have read that Baltic Porters were traditionally top fermented but switched to bottom in 1800 ish. Is the style now considered a must lager?
