    Cold crash a yeast starter?

    I have a 1500 ml yeast starter in a 2000ml flask. After 36 hours on a stir plate there is still a 3" thick krausen head and it appears to still be growing/ fermenting. (1056 3rd gen yeast). When can I pull the plug on this starter and cold crash it(like to cold crash for several hours or...

    Yeast starter timing

    Lesson learned: the yeast starter will tell you when its ready--not the other way around. Made my first starter 2 weeks ago with a 1056 from a washing on Feb,1. It only took 12 hours on the stir plate and was really going. Gave it 24 hrs and then cold crashed and was brewing in 3 days. Happily...
