So am i crazy???...thought of going pro.

I'm in the process of doing this myself so here are a few pieces of advice - Spend some time working with another small brewer. By this, I mean something like 3-6 months. Our state also has a farm brewery license and as a result we have a lot of brewers starting out small - 1 to 5 bbls. They...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

I had a friend give me a six pack which I poured after drinking 1/2 of one. It just doesn't work as beer. It's trying too hard to be root beer. I had the same thought of "it needs to be in a float". Ice cream can fix anything! My friend then doubled down and gave me a six pack of their...

The Experimental Brewer - Recreating The Lost Beer

@motobrewer I just had a Ballantine IPA on tap. I'm in Long Island, NY. It was pretty good although the abv was a bit high. Nice malt and decent hops without being over the top. More pine/resin/orange flavor rather than grapefruit (which I'm officially tired of). Glad to see they are producing...

Another brand under A-B's Porfolio, say goodbye to Blue Point Brewing

It's in bicycling distance from my house so I'll be sad if the local community participation goes away. They hold home brewing events and have hosted local home brew clubs. It's great walking around the brewery, talking to the brewers and trying some of the more experimental batches. Having...

    What are you drinking now?

Currently drinking and IPA - an Imperial Pale Ale. I sent the wife to the store for an IPA and technically she did get one although not what I was thinking. It's a Brewers Best kit - It's in that sweet spot of the last 1/3rd of a keg so its quite good. At 8% alcohol this is the last one for...

    What are you drinking now?

I tried quite a few of the Maui beers - I really, really enjoyed the Bikini Blonde lager. I suspect it has something to do with being there.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Your killing me.... Dead Guy ale is one of my favorites - especially on tap. I think you had a bad batch, bad tap line or mistreated keg. Don't let the one experience put you off. I can't see how it could be described as dull if something wasn't amiss. Ying's & wings. Nuf' said.

Does it amaze you at how many breweries are terrible at making beer?

That's ultimately it isn't it. I live on Long Island (NY) and we are blessed with good local breweries and access to craft beer in general. However every party I seem to go to the beer of choice is Bud light or Mic Ultra and most people seem more than happy with this. While that's not something...
