Brewing this again tomorrow. Gona try out my new shed since its our typical rainy mess here on the Columbia River. LHBS didn't have my yeast so went with 002 English ale. Also gona try a secondary with vanilla beans soaked in makers mark. Hope all goes well and I don't burn the place down.
So this is definitely the best thing i've ever brewed. I love this beer. It turned out just how I wanted it to. I was Gona give these out for Xmas gifts but screw that. Now I'm giving away my sub par cider and hoarding the stout for myself. It's the thought that counts right? I'm planning to do...
Sure you are, your a Geomatic Engineer!
I'm actually in school now for surveying. Unlike engineers all professional land surveyors will get licenced. they have to, It's the law. 80% of all engineers that graduate never get licenced. So yes, people who actually design bridges are not licenced...
Followed as is. The table sugar is also to recipe, it's what the op used to prime. I figured it was more true to the style of this beer. I'm not sure how readily available corn sugar was pre-prohibition.
This is a nice drinkin beer. Smooth and a nice rye spice to it. Like i said before ill...
brewed this up a couple weeks ago. Used wlp irish ale yeast. It tasted awesome at brew, can't wait to bottle it and taste how its comin along. I also made a small beer off this mash. Figured why not. The small started out at 5 gallons at 1.020 and is at 1.006 now, 2% session beer anyone. I'm...
I just cracked a bottle open from my first batch of this...HOLY S**T. This is awesome. Even my prego SWMBO took a sip and started to cry because she can't drink a whole glass. It still needs another week or so for a little more carbination but other wise a great beer. I did a 5 gallon batch...
2 to 3 after carb. So i had mine in bottles for 5 weeks before the "green" started to go away. I'll be brewing this again this weekend. 5 gal. With the cream ale yeast. It's a great beer.
It worked great for me. I let mine condition for at least 3 weeks. I can't control ferm. Temps yet so they were a little skunky/green for the first few weeks. But cream ale yeast for a cream ale made sense to me. Good luck.
McMenamins Nebraska bitter...waiting for a friends plane to return from Seattle after getting re-routed because Airforce One was going to be leaving PDX....i say silver lining.
This looks rediculously awesome. I think im gona have to get some cider really soon and give this a try. Thanks for the great idea. I've got 4 beers on deck so this should fall into place just in time for a pressing party in october.
Ive also wanted to try stout yeast in a cider...so many...
I moved from utah in '03 to tthe north west. Before I moved I had no problems finding good beer. I also have never let abv be a deciding factor in the beer I drink. I drink craft beer for its good flavor not its abv. Some of the best tasting brews ive ever had have been in utah, and at 3.2%. I...
I call my cream ale "Left Burn". Cream Ale to me seems like a blue collar working mans beer. I can drink a lot of these after a long hot day slingin' pipe. A left burn is the guy on the job site who is the boss. He's easy to find just look for the burned left arm, from it hangin out the drivers...
1. Old Rasputin, or as I call it "perfection in a bottle"
2. Fort George Cavatica stout
3. Ninkasi Oatis oatmeal stout
From the other posts it seems like I really need to find some Founders Breakfast stout and try it soon.
