    Add hops to lite beer

Thanks for the responses. I checked out hop oils, they might be too much, one drop is for a gallon. I don't really want bittering hops per se, looking more for flavor. The clawhammer videos on the subject are pretty interesting! I've been using this "NADA," about 1/3 of a can per 12 oz lite...

    Add hops to lite beer

I've been buying lite beer 30 cans for $19. Nice yes, but flavorless. I miss my homebrew. What I'd like to do is pour the cold beer and add a bit of hops water that I would keep in a jar in the fridge. I was thinking of duplicating the way I brew, hops at 1 hour boil and again at 15...

    Ferment in bottling bucket?

I have had my wort in a carboy for a day now and there is a good half inch of sediment o the bottom. Would it be wise (or would it have been wise a day ago?) to siphon it into the final bottling bucket? My bucket has a hole to fit the air lock. That way I will 1.) not have to stir up the...

    Hydrometer cushion

Good points. Maybe I could cut some 1/4" thick styrofoam in rounds smaller than the tube so they will come out easily.

    Hydrometer cushion

Looking for ideas that will overcome my clumsiness. For my (yet another) NEXT hydrometer I'd like to insert some foam, rubber o-rings, etc. in the bottom of the glass holding tube so when I drop the hydrometer in it won't hit the bottom and shatter. Or glue something to the bottom end of the...

    Back sweeten...how much sugar?

Thanks, I thought it might be Brix or something like that. I have five different wines from juice in small bottles, hate to waste what little I have into a hydrometer. So I did add a teaspoon to 6 oz and it was just about right, so that would be 1.020? Also, to prevent re-fermentation can I...

    Back sweeten...how much sugar?

What is a point, in layman's terms?

    Back sweeten...how much sugar?

I know it's been 10 years but... my wine is 1.000 and too bitter for me. If one lb of sugar sweetens 5 gallons then one level teaspoon should be correct for 6.6 ounces? Does that seem reasonable? What will my sg be? Thx.

Wine from juice starter recipes wanted

It's been a month fermenting with balloons (pic, above). I feel like I should rack but I don't have containers the size I need to eliminate headspace. Is it necessary?

when is too soon to bottle?

Have you drink a glass of it yet? how is it?

Wine from juice starter recipes wanted

It's been exactly a week since started fermentation (Fleishman's) at OG 1.08, temp about 70f. The balloons in the smaller bottles are down, so I opened the Concord grape and tested it. Hydrometer read 1.000, I think a lot of that reduction was due to extra effort shaking and repouring for...

It's been 48 hours and the balloons are still up. I'm getting thirsty!

Wine from juice starter recipes wanted

I bought Blueberry, Pomegranate, Cranberry, white and Concord juice and they've been in the tub fermenting for 20 hours (pic). It is pretty cool in there, I'll occasionally run an inch or two of hot water to give the yeast a treat. Altogether was 7.5 quarts of juice, two pounds of sugar and...
