    Hoppy Porter Critique

That’s right, thank you. Stout needs roasted barley whereas porter does not. Yet the lines are relatively blurred between the styles.

    Hoppy Porter Critique

Without roasted barley, it’s not really a porter. At least that’s my understanding. I have made a hopped up porter based on a BYO clone from The Kernel brewery in London (“Export India Porter”). Was very popular

Questions about Ward Labs Water results.

Thanks Silver. I’ve got same water as Kinggolf so that is a big help.

    Timing of oxygenating wort

Good point. Boiling it is basically just as easy as sanitizing, why not take any risk out of the equation? I will add that step

    Single Tier HERMS System

Pretty rad system. Even better how you got your friend’s welding class to do some of the work for you! Brew on brother -PCL

    Timing of oxygenating wort

I get what you’re all saying about the infection risk of the aquarium-style aeration. After doing it a year (20+ batches) have never had an issue. And I use pbw and sanitizer on the stone and tubing. Pure oxygen would be better but can only pick up so many toys. I know, excuses excuses lol...

I had thought about setting something like this up, and you just sold me. Greatly appreciate the link to the pump!

    Timing of oxygenating wort

Had a question for you all regarding timing of oxygenating wort. I’ve read that oxygenating hot wort can be a problem. But how hot is “hot”? I only have the capability of cooling my wort to 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit. All grain batch cooled with an immersion wort chiller. So typically I...

Hop madness! Dig it. How would you describe it? Also how much rice hulls you use. I usually go one pound but that’s more oats than I’ve ever used

I like the Golden Promise. Adds a nice mellow sweetness that works to round out NEIPA.

Overall happy with Idaho 7 for bittering and flavor. Gave me a nice even bitterness and a ripe fruit with some dankness for flavor. Originally more pineapple but after a week mellowed to more ripe fruit. Everyone who had it liked it a lot. The dry hop didn’t add a whole lot. I might try next...
