    Low OG Biab

I have a similar problem in that I was shooting for a final 5 gal but ended with 6 as I didn't get the evap I was expecting. Everything is cool now and finishing hops were added so I'm hesitant to re-boil. What will be the affect on final brew? If it's just less ABV I'm not too concerned...

ugh. Did I just ruin a batch with auto siphon & hot wort

hmmm yeah. . didn't consider the carboy. It's glass. Still ok though, it's cool now this morning so I guess it could take it/I got lucky.

ugh. Did I just ruin a batch with auto siphon & hot wort

So I've been experimenting with BIAB and no-sparge (which is what happens when you loose the bag part) methods. Long story short, I siphoned hot wort (just after flame out) into a carboy. I noticed the siphon now has a nice little curve to it! I'm worried that some plasticizers may have...

Tank and regulator in the fridge question

I see plenty of people keeping their gas in keggerator/keezers. . . is there any benefit to not doing so?

Tank and regulator in the fridge question

A guy at local hombrew gas shop was telling me keeping the regulator and gas in my keggerator will throw off the indicators and make it seem like my tank is empty. I've been having leakage issues and would like to move my tank and regulator outside of the fridge so some questions: 1) What...

    under attenuated IPA

The instructions I had were to pitch it dry. I used a stir stick for a couple minutes to aerate.

    under attenuated IPA

So refractometers are only good for measuring OG, not FG? Damn I thought I was investing in something way more accurate than a hydrometer that would take its place.

    under attenuated IPA

Yes I am using a refractometer and it did start out a bit warm. Maybe 73-75? I tried dropping the temp for a while with a wet towel (it worked) but I think it may have been too late

    under attenuated IPA

First time BIAB brew. Brew date: 8/7. Pitched Safale 005. OG was 1.064. Noticeable slow start and no krausen. On 8/21 gravity was at 1.039. I thought it was stuck so I repitched with some WL San Diego Super. Today it's at 1.031. It's very slow and I'm thinking it's about as far...

    Cold start for 2124, results?

I started a Maibock NB extract kit with two smack packs of 2124 Bohemian lager. . I pitched around 60 which I'm thinking was too high. I put the primary in a section of my basement that was holding steady at about 44-55 for the past month, and of course, day 2, and cold snap hits Chicago and...

    Basement Bar & Keggerator

Yeah I bought a Danby DAR440BK and made sure the framing fit. I'm going to finish the bar top before drilling and mounting the tower.

    Basement Bar & Keggerator

Here is the first time lapse of a bar build. . . the danby place inside will be converted to keggerator with draft tower. Next up though . . the etex top and trim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2i53aI9oWdE
