Broken floating thermometer in wort- Lead? Steel?

I think I've seen something about people eating glass, so I'm sure your body could handle very small pieces.

    Hey Everyone!

Yea, I knew lagers were fermented well below the temps of an ale. As it stands now, I have a kegerator, 14 corny kegs, and nothing to drink. I just thought it was interesting that there was no mention of lagering on the directions for the all-in-one LME. Just waiting on that call to get my brew...

off to a bad start with corny

These are basically just key rings from the looks of mine. They are really inexpensive, check the dollar store or your local wal-clone and pick up a handful. I had to replace a few on my kegs that are bent/old/dirty.

    Hey Everyone!

I was at my LHBS today to pick up my first brew kit, and they sold it, so now we wait til they get another, cause the price was just too good to pass up. It was the only kit I've seen with a glass carboy and all the various parts to get started for only 68 bucks. I did have a question as to...

Over my Head in Corny Kegs...

I haven't gotten around to gutting them all yet, as I'm waiting to pick up a deep well socket (battery in my car decided it was going to die after I left it in 2ft snow for 2 weeks...) but as far as I can tell, these kegs haven't been opened in about 10 years, so I figure I'll end up replacing...

Over my Head in Corny Kegs...

Thanks for all the info guys. Today, I'll be working on getting a deep socket for the posts, and start poking around to see which kegs I can take apart. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress, what's good vs what isn't.

Over my Head in Corny Kegs...

could be, I always thought it was like when someone says "Kleenex" they mean tissue, it's just the dominate brand. Like old people calling mp3 players walkmans or something like that, lol.

    Hey Everyone!

That's what I've heard, and that's why I want it!

Over my Head in Corny Kegs...

I'm a new guy, and I'm just starting to get into homebrewing. After lurking around a bit, I decided I wanted to get into kegging eventually, since I'm lazy and bottling seems way tougher. Well, I didn't think much into it, as I haven't even gotten my brew kit yet. I play locally in a band, and...

    Hey Everyone!

Long time lurker, first time poster. My name is Path and I'm from Morgantown, WV. My brother and I are getting into home brew (Thanks tax returns!) and this site has been a god-send. I've actually been sitting here for HOURS reading up about corny kegs amongst other things. I actually found this...
