I use a half gallon of gray goose (cheap vodka just taste cheap and harsh) and. Large bag of jolly ranchers. I use less of the grape cause it really over powers the other flavors. Only takes a few hours to desolve and its ready to drink. Swmbo really likes this.

Did you sand any of the texture off of the door before painting? This is something I have been thinking about but wasnt sure if the chock would erase well with all of the texture. Looks great! I will probably be doing this to mine very soon. :mug:

That much wort coming out seems odd to me. Is your blow off tube submerged below the wort in your bucket? I think this would cause it to pump more wort out. The hose should just be at the top to release all of the co2 being created and some of the krausen if its bad enough.

i recently started doing starters and my last one i stepped up a few times before pitching into a CDA. This was the fist time i have ever had to use a blow off tube. It was making a pretty good mess but had not exploded yet. Glad i caught it in time.

Another update. First time I have ever had to rig up a blow off tube on one of my 6 gallon better bottles. Checked to see how fermentation was going and it looked like it was about to blow the airlock off. krausen was foaming out everywhere. I pulled the tube off of my autosiphon and...

Edited OP with the recipe I ended up brewing. I had some technical difficulties with some brew equipment so the day took a little longer than i expected but overall a good brew day. Recipe didnt end up being anything like I originally thought I would brew but I'll be making another CDA again...

Thanks for the help. I have not completely decided on hops yet. I was thinking probably Columbus for bittering and centennial for flavor/aroma. I'm doing a full boil on this extract. can you give my any clues on how much hops to add? I'm planning Columbus at 60 and a lot more centennial at 20...
