Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

Steve - I am willing, but can't from this particular computer. However you can open a new blank document then create a table with 2 columns and 5 or more rows. That gave me 10 spaces to fill. I will try to remember to make one and post it tomorrow (Sunday). Tom - It is a production code from...

    Hops in Jamul, CA

Thank you much! Yep, as long as I yield something it going in a brew, probably either a Halloween or more likely a Thanksgiving brew. Hmm... I'm growing Fat Max pumpkins this year. Maybe a pumpkin brew with homegrown pumpkin and hops! :tank:

Bury the pot. My herb garden is 95% comprised of 5 gallon pots buried in the ground about 1/2 - 2/3. Easy to move if need be, temps are more constant and gophers are not a problem.

    Hop Farm San Diego

Hello fellow SD/So Cal brewers! I live out in Jamul and just planted 10 rhizomes. 2 each of Galena, Cascade, Mt. Hood, Willamette and Nugget. Hope you all have great success! :mug:

Just a quick update. I planted the rhizomes on 3/17/12. It is less than two weeks later and I have 7 out of 10 with shoots so far. One Galena, one Cascade, both Mt. Hoods, one Willamette and both Nuggets. :)

    pet tags as hop markers

I am going to have my kids paint signs for mine. I friend of mine that works at Taylor Guitars made signs for his from pieces of Koa. He sketched the names on, then burned it into the wood.

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

I'm not using a sticky label at all. I created it in Word, printed them on regular paper, cut them out and then taped them on with scotch tape. Vials have to be super clean and even then it helps to wrap the tape around and back onto its self. Otherwise they just slide off.

how pissed does it make you...

I didn't read every page, so pardon me if this has been said. But the only thing that bothers me about ads from the big guys is undoing the damage that is colder is better when drinking beer. Yes it is better for their crappy brews, not mine though. Trying to convince someone that not every beer...

    What a Friday....

I'm glad I finished my hops bed and trellis project Thursday, because after the day I had Friday it will be a while before I am useful again. I broke my left Tibia. What a craptacular thing to happen at the beginning of growing season. It was my own stupid fault for reliving my youth and...

    Hops in Jamul, CA

SO I have just about finished my trellis. I drove two 10' old well pipes several feet into the ground. Then bolted a 21' well pipe onto each. There is a pulley at the top of each, and a boat trailer winch mounted on each. I can lower the main cable to secure coir to it. The main cable is at...

    Hops in Jamul, CA

Hi all. Instead of hijacking someones thread and posting my own pics, I decided to start my own. I will likely use it as a blog of sorts through the year. So any how, I pre-ordered from Northwest Hops in December. I ordered 2 each of Magnum, Cascade, Hallertau, Willamette and Nugget. Last...
