I recently racked (23 days ago) a big brown ale on top of an oak spiral which had been soaked in bourbon. I broke the spiral in half before adding it.
Maybe a week later I noticed some bubbles forming around the floating spirals. It's obviously not still fermenting, I tasted it yesterday...
Can anyone weigh in on how well this works? I was thinking about adding a spiral of lightly toasted American white oak to a freshly kegged saison.
The package suggests one spiral per 3 gallons...
Any thoughts?
What a way to break in the new keg, having the same problem... When I open my picnic tap nothing happens. It must be way clogged. There are chunks of hop debris throughout the line, I have no idea what to do.
It's only been two days, should I just wait the rest of the week then attempt to...
Theoretically should I be able to pour beer from a keg that has been under 20 PSI while slowly chilling in the fridge? It's been in there for a few hours and nothing happens when I open the picnic tap. The hose has some beer in it but wont move when I open the tap?
Do I have a clog? It's a...
I added about 5 cups of watermelon juice to a kolsch yesterday. I racked the beer on top of the juice in secondary. Its been over 24 hours and I have no sings of fermentation. I thought it would have re-started rather quickly.... Hmmmm.
I guess just give it some time.
Any updates on this one? I am about to bottle after four months on the bourbon/oak.
So I shouldn't have any carbonation issues given the long time in secondary? I plan to add 1oz of priming sugar per gallon.
