I am planning to brew my favorite Irish blonde next week and I'd like to split the batch into two 2.5 gallon batches. If I were fermenting the whole batch in one 5 gallon carboy I'd be using 1 Wyeast smack pack.
I've never split a batch before and not sure what to do when pitching the yeast...
After it's carbonated the way you like you can take it off the gas. You can even serve without the gas, but after drinking a few (about eight to twelve beers in my experience) you'll need to hook it back up to gas at 10psi or so. As you drink without it being on gas the pressure will start to...
Thanks for the input everyone. Last few questions, I really appreciate the help. Once I get it carbonated can I store in the fridge with the CO2 disconnected and just reconnect every time I want to drink? if I don't want to drink it now or just want to store it can I just bleed the air out, top...
Sounds like a new fridge is in my future. New question. My wife is going to give me space in the main fridge but I can't fit the CO2 tank too. Can I chill the brew, force carbonate, drop pressure to serving pressure and just put keg in fridge? Obviously I'd have to hook up the tank when I...

I was recently given an entire kegging system complete with CO2 tank and I'm itching to try it out. Before I did (out of fear or ruining my IIPA) I thought I'd ask a few questions as I've always gotten good advice here.
1. How long will my brew keep once kegged?
2. I don't have a fridge to...
Thanks for the info. I was going to use a 32oz starter, I'm not sure if thats a small or large starter. Should I be making a larger? I'm shooting for an OG of 1.060. I was planning on just swirling it but have considered investing in a stir plate but I'm not sure if they're worth the price...
I'm trying out my first yeast starter and was looking for input. Pitfalls / must-do's? I've seen a few clips on how to and all but none have showed the actual pitch. Do I pitch the slurry and all the liquid; just the slurry; just the liquid? Anything else I should know?
Hello all, Im new to home brewing and new to HB Talk. Im brewing my first high OG (1.084) double IPA and it's been in the primary for one week today. The airlock has slowed to about two bubbles per minute and my first reading, today, is at 1.020 (tastes great by the way). Here's my problem...
