    Counterflow Chiller idea

My god, that beast is cool! You should make it just for bragging rights.

    Pecan Wee-heavy, intrigued, but unsure.

I definitely second (or third? Fourth?) the roasting concept. You'll get a lot more flavor that way. Let us know how it goes!

    Feedback on my new mashtun?

I'm a fan of: "He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire."

Using My Beer Equipment To Deep Fry a Turkey

Glad it worked out. I know I may be overcautious, but I'm with the folks who don't want hot oil in their keggles. I have an aluminum pot just for cooking in on my burner. It wasn't that expensive, and now my brewing kettles have a dedicated use.

SWMBO's way of Saying "Get the Hell Out of My Kitchen!!!"

I'm pretty close to B-town, and likely wouldn't consider moving away from "the city" without moving away from Vermont. I love it up here, but sometimes you just need civilization!

    Gelatin

It's a beauty! I've only ever used finings with my mead, never with beer. I may need to give it a shot!

    Hello from Vermont

I'm in Waterbury, about dead center, all things considered.

    Feedback on my new mashtun?

I love Churchill quotes, whether he ever said most of them or not! As for sweating the pipes, I've had really good luck with my plastic manifold, in regards to easy cleaning by cementing it to come apart into 2 separate pieces, and had thought to do the same with this one. I may attempt to make...

    Feedback on my new mashtun?

It is - as long as I'm willing to set the pot on the ground for filling and lift it, full, onto the burner. When I get a permanent setup, I'll mount it to a 4-inch platform with some bolts, taking care of that extra step.

    Feedback on my new mashtun?

Well, I haven't actually USED it, yet, having spent all of my money on copper pipe, but I expect to be able to mash an obscene amount of grain, when it comes time to give it a shot. Due to traveling for the holidays, I won't even get to try it for at least two weeks, at which point, I think I'll...

    Hello from Vermont

Thanks for the welcome and the heads-up! I've been a lone wolf for many years, or at the very least the most knowledgeable among my friends, and the guy who gets people INTO brewing. I both look forward tot eh opportunity to meet other brewers and fear the prospect og becoming the dumb kid in...

    Dead Guy Sediment?

Some breweries will remove much of their fermenting yeasties and add a second strain for bottle-conditioning to foil folks like ourselves. I'd be shocked if Rogue did such a thing, though. It's likely that the yeast is there, but that they do a better job of clearing their beer before bottling...

    Feedback on my new mashtun?

Hi, all - I've been thinking about/working on this concept for a while, asking myself what the heck's wrong with the standard picnic-cooler style mash tun as you move up in the world. I recently made the great-granddaddy of all cooler tuns. I think it's a super concept, and based on my brewing...

    Hello from Vermont

Hi all, I didn't see any information regarding posting guidelines, but I've been part of a number of small local and web-based brewing groups for years, and think it's time to step out and share a few of my personal brewing exploits. I'm a homebrewer in Vermont interested in learning as much...
