    Thermometer for getting into Mashing

I'm testing my new RT301WA from ThermoWorks right now. So far I' m very happy with it. 5-6 second response - NICE. The stem is only 5" as opposed to 12" & 24" on the RT610B and was only $19 + ship. :mug:

Big Beer in a 5 gallon mash tun?

You could keep your typical grain bill and reduce the batch size. :mug:

Is this an LP or natural gas connector?

Can you take a picture for comparison?

Is this an LP or natural gas connector?

Sorry everyone, I got this mixed up. It is the old tank valves that don't work with the new connections. I have a full 4lb. tank that's been sitting around for a few years and can't use it as a backup for my newer gas grill. msa8967 that's a '69 Eldorado

Is this an LP or natural gas connector?

That's the old Prestolite fitting for LP. You'll have to replace it with the new style fitting, probably available where grills and accessories are sold. :mug:

    Time to replace hydrometer?

I'd get a new one. If the paper shifted once, it could shift again quite possibly between O.G. and F.G. readings. :smack:

Got my water report, now what?

You could use acid/acidulated malt to lower mash Ph There is a spot in EZWATER calc. for acid malt additions. :mug:

Got my water report, now what?

I don't see sulfate listed, but I would guess you could add just enough gypsum to raise the calcium over 50 which would also raise sulfate (good for ipa's). Check out http://www.ezwatercalculator.com/ :mug:

    Extract to All Grain Conversion

To make it a little easier; 1 lb. of LME provides approx. 37 points per lb. per gallon of water. 1 lb. of DME provides approx. 44 points per lb. per gallon of water. 1 lb. of base malt (grain) provides 25-30 points per lb. per gallon of water depending on your methods. :mug:

    Extract to All Grain Conversion

    Already factored in Vince. :mug:

    Extract to All Grain Conversion

Munich LME is generally half Munich and half 6 or 2 row. In your case, I would use 4 lbs. Munich and 6 lbs. 2 row with the other grains, and mash @ 154-156*F. You may or may not want to use the maltodextrin and carapils (they may not be necessary). The O.G. will be lower if you do not use them...

    Yes, it is. :mug:

    Trub Disposal: weird question??

No joke. You may be smelling sewer gas leaking past the wax ring between the bottom of the toilet and the soil pipe flange on the floor. Sewer gas is POISON!!! Get it fixed! I have been dumping trub down the kitchen sink with HOT water for years with no issues. :mug:
