I have tried several dry yeasts, while never a bad one, per say, Fermentis is my favorite brand (S-189 is my go to yeast for my Dortmunder). One of my best 5-gallon batches was brewed with one packet.

In answer to your question, yes, those two plates do work. Past few days have not got above freezing and so far so good! I opted for the Anvil fermentor and heat does reach the wort; I feared the plastic bottom protector would not let it pass. Cheers!

I read every magazine I could my hands on 25 years ago, now with this forum and various websites I no longer spend money on magazines. I barely threw out a stack of vintage brew magazines from the 90's.

LOL, I live in desert New Mexico where night time temps dip but rapidly warm as fast during the day...so 25W hopefully enough. I do thermowell setup normally and plan to do in fridge as well.

OK time to have a laugh. Here is my on-the-cheap brew fridge. Inkbird 308 and 2 heating plates. My first attempt, we'll see I suppose!

Hi everybody, I made two identical batches this weekend, one Saturday, one Sunday. The batch on Saturday was not as vigorous bubbling today (Monday) compared to Sunday's. Puzzled, I pressed down on Saturday batch airlock and it started bubbling to match the latter batch. I thought I had it...

I am wondering if the 7.5 gallon Anvil fermenter works with 25W heating pad? I realize bottom is plastic base, but would warmth rise through it? Pad works great with glass carboy. Just fishing for ideas, and if pad would work, may be economical upgrade from heavy carboy. Thanks

Newer gaskets are labelled rubber, but sure look like silicone. I used the NOS rubber on the batch I bottled yesterday.
