    Cooler Mash Tun

Long story short I am moving to all grain and was trying to put together an extravagant electric HERMS setup, but I grew inpatient and decided to get a cooler mash tun going for now and will look to do the electric setup in the future once I have more experience. The cooler I chose is a 70 quart...

    Fermenter Thermostat

Great thanks rekoob. The freezer isn't going to be too much voltage for that controller to handle is it? Sorry electric is not my specialty. Haha and yea I got a great deal. Got it on Craig's List for $1k.

    Fermenter Thermostat

I purchased a commercial freezer to use for fermenter. I am trying to select an appropriate temp controller. Any suggestions? Below is a link to the freezer, as well as a temp controller that I think I may purchase. Thanks in advance for any advice. Mark...

    Purchase an electric heat source???

David & Mako, Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into these options (I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to electrical work) and see what fits my situation. I'm trying to put together a HERMS system so it may a little bit more complicated in my situation.

    Purchase an electric heat source???

Hatfield, The 3,500 watt do not require the standard dryer outlet correct? I rent in Chicago and those outlets are nearly impossible to come buy for under $1600 a month for a 1 BR so it's just not going to be an option for me anytime soon. I've been wanting to put together an electric system...

    Hopblocker

Sorry for the delayed response. I have been in and out of town for work. I had picked out a 220,000 btu burner on Northern Brewer I believe, but I am not thinking I will go the extra step and use electric. I am still doing research on the entire process, but I think in the long run it will make...

    Hopblocker

I am investing in a new brew kettle and a lauter tun. I believe I am going to buy Blichmann kettles for both the mash tun and brew kettle unless people on this forum heavily object. I was to go with Blichmann because they have the 55-gallon stock pot, which is about the size that I am looking to...

    Building a Fermentation Chamber

Yea I kind of bailed on the idea because of the freezer I found that I mentioned above. I got the measurements and I think it should fit 16 six gallon carboys so it should be more than enough. I agree with your assessment though. It seems like the A/C unit would be the easiest route from...

    Mash Tun

I am moving from extract to all grain brewing and I am looking at purchasing a stainless steel mash tun stock pot. Is there any different between a mash tun stock pot and a regular stock pot other than the false bottom? Couldn't you just use your normal brew pot if it has a ball valve and drop...

    Building a Fermentation Chamber

Thanks for all the input guys. I just randomly stumbled across a commercial freezer that I think should provide me with ample space (49 cubic ft.). Although it's well out of my price range I think am going to try to negotiate to get it down about 20% and hopefully just buy it since building one...

    Building a Fermentation Chamber

I am looking at buying a new 5 cubic ft. deep freezer that I found on Craig's List that is less than a year old. I would imagine the compressor on a deep freezer would have higher output capacity than that of a refrigerator comparable in size?

    Finally started my Fermenting Chamber

Aomagman, Can you post some pictures of the final product? I am very interested to see how you approached this. I am trying to do a similar project myself and I am stuck on a few design points. I found a nice deep freeze on craig's list that I want to remove the lid and saw off the front...
