    AHS Magic Hop Dust

It's called 'the shake'. Or at least that's what I've heard. ;)

    Moving the boil outside ...

Thanks for the picture reference. That's what I am discovering. I have never purchases propane for anything before, so that part is brand new to me. Lowe's has new 20 lb tanks for $31. I'll probably spend the coins and just grab one of those. Now to find out where to get it filled. :D

    Propane Burners

Just bought my SQ14 yesterday, delivering Fri! I almost bought one of those turkey fryer set-ups, but some wise one on this board enlightened me to the pesky auto-shut offs (after 20 mins or so) on those things that are nearly impossible to override. Very annoying if so. Just be aware.

    Moving the boil outside ...

So far, no reply. However, I have found two more slightly optimistic possibilities (since fed ex tracking has my burner to be delivered on Fri ... yay!). Two ads on Craigs List for small portable gas grills. Both of them $5, with the empty tank on each. I could care less about the grill, but if...

    Connoisseurs Export Stout advice ...

Thanks for the replies! I know the questions were vague and maybe difficult to answer. The amber DME and the yeast suggestions were some of the ideas I was looking for. And HOLY SMOKES, BATMAN, I love coffee! I think I will try a little of that and some spiced rum. Wow! Those sound great! Do you...

    Connoisseurs Export Stout advice ...

I like the liquirice, chicory root ideas. The instructions say to bring 3.5 litres to a boil, add contents of can plus 2.2 lbs of brewing sugar and boiling water to firmenter. Top off to 5 gal, pitch yeast, blah, blah. You get the picture. I have been in other thread and received some advice...

    Connoisseurs Export Stout advice ...

I'm going to my homebrew store tomorrow for some supplies. I am making this export stout kit (1.8 kg, 40 pint) and I want it to be super (I love a good stout anyway). First step, throw out the instructions. Can anyone help me with some specifics for the following steps? What kind of extract I...

    Moving the boil outside ...

I paid shipping. But the original price was $42, $15 dollars shipping, so $57 overall. I'm okay with that price. I also just found a 20# propane tank on Craig's list for $15 ... sent an inquiry, waiting for him to respond! :D

    Moving the boil outside ...

So I just caught up on reading this thread (just got home from work) and you all have convinced me. I just ordered the SQ14 from The WEBstraunt Store for $57. Hope my wife won't kill me. ;) Where do I get the propane from? I've never even had a gas grill. Thanks for all your helpful replies...

    Moving the boil outside ...

That's a good idea. I might just wait it out. We're gonna see some super sales on this stuff for sure. That Bass Pro Turkey Fryer looks pretty sweet. The spigot looks handy. Site bookmarked. Thanks! I'm just a little impatient because I am currently stuck with a glass top electric range that...

    Moving the boil outside ...

I'm looking at outdoor burners and want to grab one for as little as I need to spend. Does this look reasonable for a 5-gal kettle (boil about 3.5 at a time)? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002913MI/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 Also, what exactly is a 'jet' burner? Would it be hard not...

Can I add more corn sugar?

Thanks a ton, all. Sounds a lot more reassuring, at least! So basically, either way I go, the beer might just turn out okay. If I add anything, I will pick up some malt extract for the extra flavor in the next couple of days. I am planning on bottling it before Christmas to give 6-packs to a...

Can I add more corn sugar?

So should I just wait it out and add more priming sugar at bottling? Kind of afraid of exploding bottles since the difference is pretty significant. And if so, how much to each bottle, if there is any right answer here? Or, if you were to take over this batch, would you just add it now and...

Can I add more corn sugar?

I made a Wheat Ale kit that called for 2.2 lbs of corn sugar 7 days ago (I used DME for last batch, but didn't have it for this one) but didn't have an appropriate scale to measure it out. After getting the scale (I know, should've done that in reverse order) and weighing what I measured in, I...

    Noob question about corn sugar

Thanks for your responses. I suppose I should stick with the corn sugar. Only problem is that I think I only have about 1.5 lbs of corn sugar. Could I supplement with regular sugar if need be?
