25% Chocolate Malt in Stout ?!

I know this thread died months ago, but I landed here today wondering how much chocolate malt is too much. Right now I have a Chocolate milk stout on primary fermentation, and I used exactly 25% Chocolate and 10% Crystal. I put some cocoa nibs in the mash and plan to put some more in the...

Beer body according to mash thickness

Thanks guys for your help, In fact I read in some other place that mash thickness doesn't have a important play on beer body, as you guys said hehe. I knew about the temperature effect on beer body, but no about the mash times... I always do my mash for 60 min, but I use normal crushed grain...

Beer body according to mash thickness

Hello my fellow brewers, I been wondering about this topic for a couple of days now and all the info I find is contradictory. According to BYO, thick mashing will get you a higher amount of fermentables in your wort (increasing the efficiency of your brew), because when you make a thin...

    Chinook & Saaz IPA

All right, my beer is Fermenting now (almost a week)! I'll keep you guys posted how it comes... Btw, I change the hop schedule, I wanted to be sure that Chinook won't suffocate the Saaz: 0.14 oz Chinook at 60 min. 0.11 oz Chinook at 30 min. 0.35 oz Saaz at 10 min. 0.35 oz Saaz at 0 min. That...

    Chinook & Saaz IPA

Of course it helps! I'll try adding more Saaz at the end as you say (makes logic) and let's see what happens... Thanks!

    Chinook & Saaz IPA

Hello guys, I'm planning to brew an IPA (1.3 gallons batch) and the hop schedule is the next: 0.17 oz Chinook at 60 min. 0.17 oz Chinook at 30 min. 0.17 oz Saaz at 10 min. 0.17 oz Saaz at 0 min. My doubt is that I don't know if the Saaz will add something to the beer or it will get lost behind...

Adding sugar to bottles after fermentation

As it has been suggested, siphon your beer to another container and add the prime sugar there. You will get a better balance of sugar between the bottles. And as a bonus, you will have even less sediments in your final beer. Cheers!

Cooling Wort Fast Without A Chiller

Forgive my ignorance but if you stir your wort in the pot, does not that adds numbness to your beer? I use irish moss, and I think that stirring diminishes the effects of it... does'nt it?

    Cleaning the grain

    Cleaning the grain

Oh cool! I have made only two mashes and have never cleaned the grain, but I did not now if that was being affecting the beer in some way... I was worried about, because I only have 1 or 2 vendors in my country... and they all sell it with this grain dust... :-/ Thanks! and cheers! :-)

    Cleaning the grain

Hello to all homebrewers, I have a question (maybe kinda dumb): The malt that I can get in my country does not seems very clean, it is sent by the vendor in a plastic bag, and it looks really dusty/earthy... How can I clean the grains to wash out that dust? It may be a dumb question but I...
