Mini All-Grain Trial Runs - Mash Tun

In order to fine tune recipes, I am looking into doing small, 1 gallon AG brews. What size of mash tun would I need to do a 1 gallon AG brew?

Blow off at 12 to 20 hrs

Concerns are that it's contaminated and it won't ferment out completely

Blow off at 12 to 20 hrs

So, I brewed AHS Pumpkin Spice Ale last night. Checked on it this morning bubbling away like crazy. I have a 3 piece air lock on there, With a very thin sheet over the bucket and air lock. (I can feel the air coming through the sheet). After work (about 20 hours after yeast pitched), I check on...

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Well, my buddy took a motor from an old copy machine probably 15 years ago. We took that motor wired it up with a capacitor (to make it spin the correct way every time) and a switch. Connecting the drive shaft to the corona mill was the hard part. We first bought a pipe that we were going to...

    Is the TAP enough?

Use nitrogen for sure. It will not seem right with CO2.

    Dry Hopping Secondary to Keg

I have a brew bucket filter that I use. Its a very fine net that captures the hops well.

    Love TSS2 fermenter probe placement?

Put it in liquid to get true liquid temperature. A liquid yeast vial is a good option.

    Suggestions on oaking

Carb in later. Let it sit on the Oak. No experience in either other than my whisky barrel stout that I am going to natural carb later.

    First Time Force Carbonating

it carbs better/faster at colder temperatures. I usually leave it my fridge (37 F) and set the psi to 18 and come back in a week to try it. shaking and all that stuff (in my opinion) is annoying. I am currently drinking my first naturally carbed (in a keg) brew...results are worth waiting for!

Airlock left on while transferring into secondary

My last brew, I used a bottling bucket (with spigot) for my primary. As I was transferring via spigot to my carboy, I noticed that I forgot to remove my airlock. The OneStep sanitized water that was in the airlock had slowly dripped into my primary. Will this affect my beer?

    Cloudy Beer

Leave your beer in the secondary longer. When I dry hop, I usually leave it in 14 day, (5 in the primary). You should always have at least 2-3 weeks minimum total for both (primary and secondary). Sometimes it will be longer, depending on what type of beer your brewing. Did you rack to a...
