    Worst bottling experience ever

I am soo glad i can finally sit back relax and have a homebrew after todays attempt at bottling my irish blonde. It started out with my bottling bucket leaking so i quick transferred it to another bottling bucket, which also leaked:mad:. my only choice was to transfer it to a five gallon bucket...

    carbonated beer in the fermentor

With my last two beers i have made the beer that comes out of the fermentor is carbonated. I know this sounds impossible but when i take a hydrometer sample i either have to wait overnight before i can get an accurate sample because its so carbonated or i have to shake it and let the head die...

should I bottle or let it sit?

I have an extract barlywine sitting in secondary at the moment. It was in primary for a month and secondary for another month. The OG was 1.084 and it has stopped at 1.028. The FG seems a little high. Should I bottle this and let it age in bottles? would this have any effect on the final...

2.5 week active fermentation and still going

I brewed a barleywine from NB 18 days ago and its still actively fermenting. I started with a 1.5L starter and only had about 3 hours of lag time. the fermentation was very active for the first 4 days. The airlock is still bubbling consistently about 5 times a minute. The OG was 1.084 and i...

    Strange fermentation restart

+1 on what happens in the fermenter stays in the fermenter. I have a Plastic pale to ferment in but i still always look in it( i make sure to sanitize well while im doing so) but maybe its because this is only my 4th batch and im still learning:)

    Strange fermentation restart

I transferred my beer to the secondary about 2 hours ago and added some gelatin. The airlock had shown no signs of activity for 5 days before racking, but less then an hour after racking the beer to the secondary it started bubbling again. Now my beer has strange white circles on the top of it...

    Krausen won't fall

Thanks for the advice, I gave my fermentor a little shake and it seamed to help a little i will probably just gave it another week in the primary to settle. I checked my SG and it is at 1.009 which is exactly what I aiming for :)

    Krausen won't fall

My red kolsch has been in the primary for 2 weeks and the krausen wont fall. The airlock stopped bubbling after 3 days so i assume the bulk of the fermentation is done. I am planning on bottling in a few days. Is it ok to transfer the beer when there is still krausen or should i wait until it...

a lot of sediment in primary

I just brewed an Amber Kolsch Ale extract recipe from morebeer.com. I did a partial boilk because i only have a 5 gallon kettle. I steeped the gains and hops bags and used the late addition method. the wort has been sitting in the fermentor for about an hour and there is about 2 inches of a...

    Caramel cream ale?

I have heard if you roast them let them sit in a paper bag it gets all the oils out. I figuredi would do that then steep them in with the the caramel 60L if I don't think there is enough pecan flavor when I rack to the sevondary I will probably "dry hop" some in the secondary

    Caramel cream ale?

Hey I have been following this forum for awhile but just joined. I am pretty new to brewing but I am definitly going to brew this beer as soon as I have an open fermentor. I was just wondering if anybody had thought of adding pecans. I think it would be really tasty and I think I am just going...
