    TastyBrew.com Bottle Priming Calculator

To update the thread to anyone that views it. I found that the amounts the priming calculator suggested to be a bit high. I usually use the calculator and then take away about .5 oz and in some cases 1 oz from the recommended amount.

Broke off some white shoots after transplanting

Hi everyone! I recently transplanted the hops I just received in the mail the beginning of this month. As I was trying to carefully dig them up some of the bigger white shoots broke off. The first one i moved was a MT Hood and it had three nice white shoots coming off of it and they have...

    Cutting back hops for winter.

Should I stop watering the plant? I just got a hand full of hops that I through in my nut brown that I was brewing on Monday. I know it won't impart anything to the brew I just did it for kicks. The plant is still growing and it's going to be 60 and sunny all next week. Should I continue...

Amount of coffee for 2 gallons of stout?

This is just an update on how the brew turned out. I only had one hop bag on hand and couldn't get 4 oz of coffee through the carboy opening. I reduced to 2 oz and was able to get it in to the carboy without a problem. I'm glad I only used 2 oz. I turned out great with enough coffee to be...

    Cutting back hops for winter.

I will let them die. The vines started budding and have more buds on the plant then i can count? Do you think i will have get some hops off the plant? It's starting to get cloudy and rainy on a regular basis here so I think they will die back from lack of sun. Thanks, -leadingzero

    Cinco de Mayo Kolsch

So brewed this again this past Sunday while drinking the batch that I brewed almost two months ago. It cleaned up really nice and is perfect for post-hockey game/surf brews! I have one question. Why add the DME with 15 mins left in boil? Does this have any effect on the brew? Thanks...

    Cutting back hops for winter.

Thanks! I think I got all the information I need from this post: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f92/chopping-winter-198696/ I guess i will just let them die back. The rainy season is on our doorstep here is the bay area and that means a lot of clouds and rain so I think the lack of sun will...

    Cutting back hops for winter.

We had snow last year! It snowed one day and the daytime temps were 39 degrees. It was freezing and the snow was only in higher elevations! Anyway, thanks for the info even though it doesn't relate to my situation. You would recommend putting mulch on a container plant?

    Cutting back hops for winter.

Hello all, I have a first year northern brewer vine growing in a container. It's dec and the plant is still doing really well and I live in San Francisco so our winters are generally mild. The information that I have read or heard on podcasts recommends to cut them back after every season...
