    When to measure OG?

I have not found a lot of information on when the best time to measure OG. I assume it should be after the boil so that the final volume is right, but I have seen some people say they measure right after finishing the wort? When do you measure your OG? Also, if it is right after the boil, how do...

Fermentation Time in a Single Fermenter

Thank you! It's interesting to see how the thought on these things has evolved.

Fermentation Time in a Single Fermenter

I have been reading about the pros and cons of secondary fermentation, and it seems that a common consensus at the moment is that moving your beer to a secondary fermenter is not necessary because it will just give your beer more opportunities to become contaminated or oxidized. Grain Particulate Leaving Bag

I do not know the specific term for this, but when making my BIAB mash there is always left over grain pieces that work there way through the bag. Apartment Brewing with Mediocre Stove Top

I did not think about the impact on sulpher molecules. DMS does have a relatively low boiling point, so I'm hoping it will have evaporated regardless. But boiling for a bit longer does make sense.

Apartment Brewing with Mediocre Stove Top

That's a good question, and I did not think to check. I'll measure it next batch.

Apartment Brewing with Mediocre Stove Top

As the title states, I am brewing in an apartment and do not have the space outdoors to use a burner. I like the idea of using full grain to have more control over wort flavor, but I do not have a stove top that can full boil a 5 gallon batch. I am convinced the water is boiling on the bottom...

Hi y'all! I am new here from the Twin Cities. Started brewing to survive my graduate program and found some very helpful advice on this site. Thought it was worth sticking around! Looking forward to learning from you all and sharing what I learn along the way.
