    Rogue's New "Beard" Beer

ER...I'm not quite sure how this is going to catch on.

    What are you drinking now?

Great Lakes Brewing - Eliot Ness Amber Ale. A great hometown brew!

    Little less than 5 gallons

Woah, cool, I misunderstood that too. I've never thrown out a batch. Then again, I've never had one that's made me wretch while drinking it, though I've had some that, it was better if I'd been drinking before I started in on it!

Beer ingredient kits on-line vs. local store

I tend to try and buy locally, at least as far as equipment goes. There's an excellent store near where I live run by knowledgeable people. -- The Brew Mentor http://www.thebrewmentor.com/. The only thing I usually buy online are kits and some hard to find items. Though the store has a good...

Beer to high in ABV? Is there such a thing? :D

Swap out buckets for a carboy?

The biggest headache to a carboy as others have mentioned is cleaning it. What a PITA. I've only used my carboy as a secondary because watching the fermentation process is about as exciting to me as watching paint dry. That said, I use it because I can see the "clarity" of my beer before...

    Overcarbonated bottles?

I'll try that priming calculator next time. It should be interesting to see the comparison. The beer ferments in my basement where the temp is pretty much a constant 62-63 degrees F. The bottles are also stored down there and I usually do put them in the fridge for a bit before drinking...

    Overcarbonated bottles?

This batch is a Red Ale, and only the 5oz of priming sugar the recipe called for. Here's the stuff.. http://www.monsterbrew.com/Prod_RedAle.cfm Simple to make really, even though I was um...drinking at the time. So, I'm somewhat at a loss for all the darn foam. Beer still tastes just fine though.

If Bruce Springsteen were a beer...

Beat me to it.. So, something light, with little or no alcohol, something that wont offend - unless you are conservative or like beer- hmmm... I know..he'd be a Coors Light NA. :) ..just playin.. I like his music a lot, hate his politics and wish he'd keep those home.

    Overcarbonated bottles?

They've been in the bottle a bit over a month, that's what's so odd. @cbjohnson2 No forced carbonation or added starch, just the priming sugar the recipe called for.

    First Pour !

    That looks delicious! Well done.

    Overcarbonated bottles?

The last two batches I've made, both from extract kits, appear to be over carbonated. Not every bottle, but most of them. When I pop the lid...sploosh.. foam overflow everywhere. And the eruption is pretty violent. I'm not handling the bottles that foam up any differently than the ones that...

    Commercial beer = bad, mmmkay?

I still buy a lot and drink a lot of commercial beer. Unfortunately my schedule and overall lazyness means I never have enough of a pipeline to keep me supplied with different tasting home brew. So it never fails that if I have a stout ready, I feel like an IPA and visa versa. I don't buy the...

    Fermentation Temperature Important?

Even though your fermenting temps were on the high side I think you'll end up ok. I am constantly surprised at how forgiving beer brewing actually is. (Or maybe we are all just alcoholic's and it's the buzz that matters :drunk: ). Overall, even beer I'm certain I've ruined, has been drinkable...
