My earlier question was wondering whether adding a sugar like honey could kick-start stalled fermentation. I recently brewed a batch which had a FG above what my target was. Could a sugar addition get those yeast going again?

Wondering the same thing as it regards ordering DME in bulk. Could save $$ that way, but most recipes call for DME and LME. If I correct for OG, should DME be interchangeable for LME?

Good thing is grains are cheap to replace. Can dump em in compost bin if they've gone bad.
Hops should be no problem since they're vacuum sealed.
Brewed the oatmeal stout on MLK, sat in primary then bottled two weeks ago.
I used 1.2 oz of maple syrup and dextrose to make up the remainder of priming sugar.
Forgot the good advice and put the maple syrup in for 2-3 or so of boil (dextrose had been in for 10min by then).

Had the same issue almost exactly.
I calculated the OG to be just above 1.060 but it measured at 1.050-1.052.
Still in the primary so not sure how far down the gravity will drop.
Check out www.myoldkentuckyhomebrew.com and go to their Beer Making portion. I've used their American Stout recipe before. Upped the sugars to increase ABV but had to up hops a bit too to stay within parameters.
There is a converter for AG or Extract depending on which type they start with...
