I have diffusion stones / carbonation stones in all my kegs and they worked fantastic for several months. After the batch I would leave them in the keg while I Ovyclean. Now I am finding that they all are clogged and my beer isn't carbonating properly.
Any advice or experience would be...
Just transferred it to secondary and it is 3% on the nose. It is light tasting and not that bad but I guess my only gripe was something on the packaging should have mentioned that. I would have bought additives or most likely something different. My in-laws won't drink anything hoppy and...
I just made one of the Festa Wort In A Bag kits called "Beer Belly" it is a Ltd. Edition run.
The side panel states that it is "A finely blended craft beer using fuggles hops and a blend of lightly roasted grains yielding a light-coloured, easy drinking beer." With the tagline "Watch the Belly"...
Made a 10L Fontana Mixed Berry Cider Kit
It had a low og so I dumped in the 50g priming sugar that came with it and fermented for 3 weeks. It had the pictured film on it.
Racked to secondary and added biofine clearing to it. A week later it has a new scum on the top. When I did the transfer...
I made an IPL with 3 kg light LME, .5kg amber dme, 1 oz ahtanum hops, 1kg rogers golden yellow sugar, lager yeast and it came out to 7.9%.
It tasted like I was pouring 2 shots of vodka in every glass and after 3 glasses I was loopy. The hangover was brutal with this stuff too. I ended up naming...
I had a ***** of a time getting my kegerator to stop producing wild foamy pours. The guy at the homebrew supplies shop told me I had to use 1/4" line and with the calc it ended up being 13' on each side which was rather expensive and didn't solve anything.
After much reading I went with 10'...
I have been making 23L (6 gal) canned beer kits and adding extra malt or sugar or enhancers to the canned goo to make the beer better then fermenting and splitting into 2 x 3 gal kegs for serving.
So reading over John Palmer's site he states that the LME ratio to make beer is 1 - 1.5 lb per...
Just wondering if you stuck your hydrometer into the primary to have it lost in the foam...
If so you should really get a test jar to avoid potential impurities getting into your beer. If you do have a test jar just leave it for a few mins and the foam should subside.
The l in ldme is for light. Sorry, that is what it had on the package.
My fermentation bucket is graduated so I topped up to 23L. Maybe it is in the mixing?
I recently started doing canned kits, prior to this I was doing wort in a bag kits.
The guy at the brew shop told me to put ldme in the kit instead of dextrose to make a better beer.
My first kit I added 2lb of ldme & 1lb of dextrose to the 1.8 kg canned kit og 1.044 and at 4 wks I had an fg...
The only information I could find is from their site:
Two-row, premium Canadian and Bavarian barley. Hallertau and Saaz hops. Bavarian yeast. Pure water. We source only the finest, natural ingredients that are truly worthy of a beer that bears the name 1516.
No shops around here sell a...
Is this an issue with all homebrew? Is it limited to kits or does this happen with all grain as well?
And what is different from commercial beer to cause this?
Nothing says I love you more than the gift of beer!
If you live in Canada the least intimidating, easiest to start way with the greatest chance of creating good beer with the first batch would be get a starter kit from your local brew store, usually includes a pail. hydrometer, racking cane...
