    Used liquor barrels

Has anyone heard from this vendor lately? I sent payment on the 14th and have PM'ed & emailed a few times just to check on the status and get confirmation, but received no replies.

    Over-clock your wort chiller

I also stir while chilling... we actually use a couple bar clamps and a drill regulated by a zip tie: The rod is a mix-stir with the plastic paddles replaced by larger measuring spoons. Also, we use the pre-chiller in the summer by filling the orange cooler with brine & ice. The tap water...

Berliner Weisse question - split batch

We brewed a Berliner Weisse today after much debate about what to do for fermentation. We considered either the Wyeast or White Labs blends, or just using a combination of yeast and lacto. After looking at the minimal grain bill, we decided why the hell not try both?? So, this marks our...

Just to chime back in here... John was great to deal with and I'm on my second batch in the new conical. Breaks down nice, everything is super easy to clean. Couldn't be happier.

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

Absolutely... it's the same as on the Stout Tank & Kettle website discussed in this thread. Obviously everyone's experience may vary, for ~$300 it was worth a shot to me. Many of our more vigorous fermentations have been pushing through the airlock in our 6.5gal carboys. Yes, I could do a...

Stout Tanks and Kettles - $400 14.5 Gal Conical

Initial cost is less for the 7.3... if I like it, I'll be more inclined to spend more on a 14.5gal. With multiple batches usually going, there will always be a use for the 7gal as I see it. When we bump up to 10 gallon, I still anticipate we'll do 5gal batches of new ideas until they are tried...
