I have a feeling I already know my issue but figured I'd post here just to get some clarification.
The last two pale ales I've done have come out a bit darker than I'd expect, one almost to the point of looking like a brown ale.
I think the problem stems from using a turkey fryer...

I am going to do my first ale in my fridge with johnson controller this weekend and I was wondering what temperature to set the controller at. I was thinking 65* degrees since it has a +/- range of 4*.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
Just keep the siphon a little above the trub. You should be able to see the trub in the siphon tubing if you are too close, just pull up a little and it should start to flow clear. That's how I do it. I get a little sediment in the bottling bucket but nothing major.
