Thanks to the OP, this design is great.
I put mine together this weekend, and I'm happy with how it turned out. I used 50' or 3/8" copper, and kept the connections simple with silicone tubing and hose clamps.
I've never built the traditional style IC so I can't compare the difficulty to...
Have you done this setup and had problems with it? I'm basing my design off several others that I've seen posted here, and I haven't heard anything about potential problems between the element and heat from the stove.

I had put some thought into a two element setup, but decided to go stove assisted because its simple and cheap, and there's no need for a PID.
So, I've got the OK from SWAMBO to put together an e-kettle. I've been following different threads and builds on here for a little while, so I'm basing my designs on them. For reference;
