Brewing your own Widmer Omission Pale

Wouldn't it be great to brew your favorite batch as a gluten free batch using essentially the same ingredients? I think it can be done with things like what Widmer recently released. Longer mashing process with enzymes added to reduce gluten levels. I know this isn't all that it takes, but it...

    Blichmann regulator hose on fire

That is really bad news you haven't heard back from him yet. The exact same thing happened to mine, however it waited until now to actually leak. I emailed Blichmann an hour ago. If I hear nothing anyone want to help chime in with possible regulator substitutes. Would any of these be the...

    Making starter wort

No need to add hops, you'll just add more trub. The only drawback to using 2 row instead of dme is time and energy. I opt for dme and make a 3 gallon batch, I don't have to do it often, so the extra cost isn't as big of a deal

    homebrew packs a wallop

Exactly. Real extract vs apparent extract Hydrometers measure sugar and water, not sugar and alcohol. Our homebrew always has a little more abv than we measure

How much yeast sediment for Hefe

No worries, luckily a hefe is one you want yeast in. You'll just have more than usual... You might be noticing the effects on your body from taking in more yeast... But that's something a significant other would complain about :)

St. Patty's Swamp Water (green beer thread)

Nice. I have a German Vienna I'm kegging today, but I'll be adding food coloring to each pint glass rather than a whole keg.... Because let's face it, who wants green beer after st pattys day?? So if I remember correctly, blue and yellow make green right? So what about using blue food coloring...

Commercial Refrigerator help needed - It cools, then gets warm?!

Nice job fixing that! I have a true commercial fridge and it was giving me similar problems, although mine I found out has a pinhole leak in the freon line. I still need to get that fixed....But it worked well when I got more freon in it, just leaked out again!

    Can Grain go bad?

Dark roasted grains have almost an infinite shelf life according to briess. My guess would be storing crushed grains allows for moisture pick up much quicker which is never good.

    Strong flavor from overcarbonation?

What do you sanitize with? Also, try pouring the beer out back and forth between two glasses to knock out a lot of the c02 an see if it tastes better
