    First altbier turned out great

Looks great. It’s a good day when you brew a new style and it works out!

Giving Up on Keg For This Batch

There could be hops clogging the out post or possibly frozen beer in the line. I’ve had both of these things happen.

Next door neighbor left the water on…it’s cold in New Jersey today

Anyone ever used one of these?

I use one and as mentioned above there is a limit to how much can go in. I keep it under 2 oz

    rinsing steeping grains

Nothing wrong with that at all. When brewing all grain it’s called sparging. People have differing opinions on squeezing the bag, when I was doing extract I was a bag squeezer. Not ashamed to admit it.

    Counter Flow chiller stand

That was my intention as well.

    Counter Flow chiller stand

I made some Velcro straps and attached it to a Blichmann tower. It was a simple solution that didn’t require actually building anything. If you have some kind of stand to hang it from that could work for you maybe

Making black stuff during the post LME boil

Could the lme be getting scorched in the bottom of the kettle. If you are using a propane burner, maybe shut it off while adding the extract and get it stirred in and fully dissolved before turning it back on.

Anyone ever use juice for priming sugar?

I used blackberry juice once a few years ago. I figured out how much sugar was needed to prime the batch, and measured out enough juice to get that amount of sugar. Ended up using a good amount of juice but I boiled it down to concentrate the sugar into about a cup or two of liquid. It worked...

Two Petainer Kegs in a Kegerator

That’s a cool looking keg. I haven’t seen those before

Two Petainer Kegs in a Kegerator

I once got a free mini fridge and my plan was to us it as a fermentation chamber but the fermenter didn’t fit because of the hump on the floor. I built a collar out is 2x4s which pushed the door out making enough room. Like a sideways keezer. It’s a cheap solution that doesn’t require...
