I was wondering this too. I ordered thermoplastic but the silicone is clear, whereas thermo is opaque...
I'm not sure why infection would be an issue unless you're talking about the tubing off the boil kettle into the carboy. Everything else is pre-boil. You just want to make sure it...
Put a few cups of white vinegar in a bucket of water. Let the copper sit in the solution for a few hours and it will turn shiny again. It's always good to do when you first use it and then again whenever it gets dull.
Sorry for potential highjack, but I've been meaning to ask what that strange flavor is in New Belgium's Mothership wit and 1554 or whatever... tastes like olives to me. Turned me off from their brews...
Don't use bleach except on occasional cleaning jobs if at all. It's just too much of a pain to have to worry about when using. Get a big tub of carbonate based cleaner (PBW) and some iodophor. You shouldn't even need bleach.
Anything that's not no-rinse is going to be more trouble than...
Neither. Get the high pressure banjo that's 210K btu and 11" in diameter (BG14).
Unless you're using it for a recirculating mash... then get the low pressure. For everything else bigger is better.
Between those two, the high pressure one unless it's recirculating mash. The diffusion...
Thanks. Maybe I will stick with the thermoplastic. The stuff looks pretty rugged and I don't need to see the wort as long as I know there's not going to be a problem.
I just got my thermoplastic tubing in the mail from NB and, yes, it's opaque. So if I use this stuff I won't be able to see my wort being pumped in the tubes.
Is it worth it to go out and get clear silicone tubing or is aeration with march pumps basically never a problem? Since I've never...
This is all because Ruination is not a great beer. It's a stunt beer packed with Cascade hops that makes it taste like you're eating a tree. The entire nose is totally one dimensional. Contrast to Hop Stoopid's nose...
Dogfish Head IPAs taste like typical homebrew IPAs. I had the 90 min once and it was ok, mild and smooth. Had it another time and just cloyingly sweet.
Stone Ruination is way too hoppy in an overly simplified way. Too much in-your-face blatancy. The Cascade is getting old. Like much of...
Most of the cheaper March pumps either have no plug and mount or else are the front inlet type (which are not as good).
It's worth the extra few bucks for the plug and mount plate... just more convenient.
You can try getting into an extension course or graduate program in brewing science... along with an internship or plain old job at some brewery... not a bad combo.
