Keg system with no fridge - is there hope?

I've been rocking the basement cooled keg system for 6-7 months now. It saved my brewing - I just couldn't take bottling anymore. Thank God this has worked! Beer stays at 50-60 depending on the season thus far. If I want it ice cold I fill growlers and bring them up to the fridge. I guess I will...

    Rochester makes me brew

Greetings from Spencerport. Sunset Hydroponics and Homebrew near Eastview..... yeah..... I'm not gonna disagree with anything here on that. They may get me out of a pinch once and a while, but if I can thank them for anything it would be my conversion to buying supplies online or Niagara...

    Good Rochester Brewery?

Rorbachs and CBC are fair. My only complaint with them are their use of hybridized dual purpose yeast (change the temp for lager or ale). It has a pretzel-ish taste that permeates every beer. Some styles I love the note, others are disasters with it. All in the name of profit margin.

    Confession Time - Crap Beer

I like Genessee cans for mowing the lawn. Cream Ale has a particular sweet spot in my heart.

    Niagara Tradition Homebrew

I finally got to NHBT a few weeks ago and was impressed. Nice store. Problem is though.... an ounce of Centenial leaf hops I got were wayyyy cheesey when I opened the bag. Couldn't even use 'em. The smell was beyond disgusting.

My local brewery is on FIRE!

I just saw this on the news here in Rochester... and I wanted to cry too. The news stated it as a "total loss" as the roof collapsed into the three story building and adjacent buildings burned. Horrible. Just horrible. I never LOVED Saranac, but it was damn fine beer - always reliable for their...

First bottle bomb - in my truck

I had my first recently too, but they were in a basement at 67F. WTF? Out of 50, 3 grenaded, 1 gushed, and 12 have been undercarbbed. Can't wait to see what the other 34 turn out to be. I am definitely going to be VERY careful opening / handling them. My guess is a failure to properly mix the...

    Pacific Gem Bitter recipe critique?

Well, I'm gonna call it a red bitter even though its out of the guidelines. Turned out fantastic. Subtle aromas and flavors of berry and citrus have an awesome flavor profile. I love these hops, and their availability from freshops.com makes them a good choice for me. From this recipe I plan on...

    The 1.020 Curse

I may not use a stone and an O2 tank, but I believe my aeration is fine (wand and drill). My hydrometer also reads 1.000 at 60F, just like it should. I may do the drop of olive oil next batch before pitching. I'll look into the beano and see what it may offer. I'm not complaining here, all...
