    Fizzics

I got one from my son and his wife for Christmas. It doesn't carbonate. It does, however, help maintain carbonation, and produce a nice, thick, creamy head. It enhances the mouthfeel, and changes the taste. I'm starting an experiment. I'm using growlers and the Fizzics system to try and imitate...

    Extract brewing is FAKE brewing

I need to chime in. I've been brewing since '89. For the first 20 years, I was strictly extract. I'vw since moved to partial mash. I can't do all-grain, because I'm in senior housing, and there are limits on what we can have (and what I'm capable of). My opinion: If you pitch a packet of...

    Great Beer names

I've been brewing since '89. Some of my beers include "Born To Be Mild" ale, Non Sequitur Ale (A Black IPA), Uncle Bill's Porter (after my uncle Bill Porter). For the first time, I'm making an Australian Sparkling Ale, and I don't know what to call it. Any Ideas?

How long does beer last for?

It has nothing to do with anything. When I saw the subject line, "How long does beer last for?", my first thought was, "About 20 minutes".

    Extract vs. Grain

I brewed for 22 years using extract and specialty grains, and the last 1 1/2 years partial mash and all-grain. Start simple, then go as far and as fast as you feel comfortable. You can make great world-class beers using extract. You have more control over the ingredients with grain. All-grain...

    what is your occupation

After 17 years as a fast food manager, I've had enough. I'm leaving at the end of January, to try my hand at making money without a paycheck. I'm going to be a full-time mystery shopper.

How many all grain brewers don't measure efficiency?

Wow, I'm a terrible person. Don't calculate efficiency, don't measure OG or FG. If the beer tastes good, I did OK.

    Great Beer names

I just finished an Imperial Black IPA. Yes, I know, there's no such style. But I called it Danger, Will Robinson Ale

"Guilty" confessions of a beer enthusiast

Let's see...besides what I produce, I enjoy Bud (a very good beer, actually), Rolling Rock, and Schaefer (believe it or not, sometimes I LIKE the corn taste).

    Son of a....

A bench capper will do fine on twist-offs. I would recommend getting one.

    just wanted to say...

That's one thing I have always said. Whether you have Mr. Beer, or a 5-barrel microbrewery in the garage, we're all brewers, and we all love making beer.
