    Quick question about after bottling.

My first batch was a Red Ale, and my basement is a nice, even 70-72 degrees. I think the alcohol percentage is supposed to be 3.7%, roughly, I'll put a few in my fridge methinks :D

    Quick question about after bottling.

Well, how long should I let the beer sit in their bottles? I bottled my brew (first brew, too) on the 26th of August, and it's been a while now (gave lots of time to ferment too). What exactly is conditioning the bottles? Cold-storage? Or if I have been letting them sit in my basement for about...

Finished my first batch, few screwups, can I get some peace of mind? (pics)

So I've heard. I'm thinking of using my Mr Beer kits for the rest of my recipes I have, and for other homebrew projects (I have some spiced orange mead in a 1 gallon jug in my cabinet that would work nicely in a 2 gallon fermenter). I'll probably be buying a better kit when my bills are taken...

Finished my first batch, few screwups, can I get some peace of mind? (pics)

Alright, phew, I made it through the first brewing step. I sanitized everything, namely my fermenter, the fermenter lid, spigot (disassembled while sanitized), stir stick, hydrometer, thermometer, measuring stick, measuring cup, and I had a sanitized mat to put my sanitized stuff when not using...

Starting my first batch, bit nervous, advice?

I have another question... Boiling Mr Beer and the Cold Break. In a lot of stuff I see, you boil for an hour or so, then preform the cold break. In my instructions, it doesn't mention anything about either. It says to let the booster (i'll be using DME) dissolve into the water, then boil. Once...

Starting my first batch, bit nervous, advice?

My kit says I have 8 1-liter bottles (~33oz?), so maybe 3 drops? Or I could just use some sugar and save the droplets for when I get some standard sized bottles. I think my first batch will be a Red Ale, as for carbonation, I never really gave it a thought honestly. If I had to guess, probably a...

Starting my first batch, bit nervous, advice?

I took you guy's advice and bought myself a hydrometer. I also bought 3 airlocks (2 regular, 1 s-type, for some other brew projects), some DME, some cooper's carbonation drops (dunno if I will use them since my bottles are larger than 12oz, does it really matter?).

Starting my first batch, bit nervous, advice?

That's what I'm really trying to do beforehand. I've been watching youtube videos, reading my books, rereading the process-overviews, rereading the definitions... I'm trying to learn some small stuff to better my first batch (not to overcomplicate or anything, just small stuff), like replacing...

Starting my first batch, bit nervous, advice?

My kit is the Premium Gold kit https://www.mrbeer.com/product-exec/product_id/753/nm/MR_BEER_Premium_Gold_Edition_Beer_Kit Right now, the other tools I have are: A funnel with built-in strainer, thermometer on the side of my fermentor (55-85 degrees I think), adjustable measuring spoon, hop...

Starting my first batch, bit nervous, advice?

Hey, I posted this on the Mr. Beer forums too, but I'd really like to hear what you guys have to say about this. I know Mr. Beer is a really basic way to brew, that's okay, I don't mind a simple start for now... However, almost everywhere people say to not follow the Mr Beer instructions that...

    Temperature concerns

Ah, thank you. Sorry for not looking a bit harder, I was about to head off to work. Sometimes I post a question on a message board and go to work so I have ~8 hours worth of responses when I get back. But doing some searching lead me to some ideas I might try, I have a spare cooler in storage i...

    Temperature concerns

Hey there! I just got my kit in the mail the other day, along with a few books I ordered about homebrew (one being John Palmer's). Anyway, my first concern I have had since the start is wondering how I will maintain temperature during fermentation. I live in an apartment, you see. It is also...

    Newbie from Wisconsin

Hey there! New brewer from Green Bay here. I've played around with the idea for a while, but I finally gave in and bought a home brew kit and some books. I'm looking forward to trying this out. I'm sure I'll have a LOT of questions as I go. I got myself a Mr. Beer kit, and I've read that it's...
