    Fruit Beer Blood Orange Hefeweizen

How would you calculate the abv considering the addition of additional sugars?

    I’m in!!

    No yeast activity

I don’t get it. OG was 1.048 I’m sure of it. Just took a gravity reading and it’s showing about 1.015 which is impossible.

And what’s worse, as far as my other AG brews, this one went the smoothest. Nice rolling. Chilled quicker, first time using the wort chiller. No stuck sparge. I guess what I like about the smack packs is, you know without a doubt the yeast is activated.

    No yeast activity

I have grains to do another batch, but I think I’m going to order a smack pack, and keep the other WLP in case I want to throw it in the first batch. I don’t like going outside my LHBS, but this is for Christmas 6 packs, and I dragged ass and need to get this stuff working.

Pitched in the low 70s. I’ve got it in the corner of the bedroom right now. Normally it would be in the chest freezer with the temp controller on it, but with a cold front, the freezer never would have stayed warm enough. House is set at 70, and I have the carboy elevated so as not to be...

    No yeast activity

Just finished making a batch of Belgian wit. It’s been over 48 hours, and no movement in air lock. Shined a flashlight on it. No Krausen ring. Finally decided to open the bucket. No, and I mean no, fermentation activity. Layer of greenish gunk floating on top, which I assume is some hops that...

What was the effect on gravity with addition of the puree?

    Blonde Ale Tropical Blonde Ale

looking at the recipe, i see where i screwed up. Opinions on how it will turn out? im going to another batch, and fix the proportions. ferment them both, see what happens. i redid the recipe, and come out with 10.5 lb 2 row, 1 lb 15oz crystal, 3 lb 3 oz honey malt

punkrawkgeek: I just brewed this as an AG. Mine came out waayyyy darker than has been pictured here. What was your grain bill?? This is what I used for a 5 gallon batch: 2.5 lb crystal 10L 2.5 lb Honey Malt 6.5 lb 2 row

    Blood moon belgian wit

Interestingly enough, I came up with the same name when I brewed it lookup the album grapefruit moon by Southside Johnny makes a great label if you bottle.

    Blood moon belgian wit

Yes. Added some post boil, after primary, didn't come out quite orangey enough added more during fermentation (force carb in keg)

    OG high by a lot

Didn't know that about the tannins

    Blood moon belgian wit

I just did something very similar. Came out a little hoppier than I was looking for, but still delicious. I used 1 oz cascade @60 and 1 oz cascade @10. If I brew again will definitely look into citrus hops. I used a blood orange puree from the restaurant I work at.

    OG high by a lot

This was only my 2nd FG brew, and i don't have proper fly sparging equipment. So instead of sparging for 30 minutes per the recipe, i sparged until my runoff had a gravity of 1, indicating I had extracted all the sugars available. This is why I think my gravity was so high, but watering it down...
