This was just long enough for them to thaw for fear of spoiling I began the process yesterday and now have an active must in her pantry I have to leave here...

    Homegrown Wines

Hi I am traveling in Southern California and planning to start up my winemaking when I get home to South Carolina. I could not resist a sale on red and green seedless grapes so I processed them and froze them to transport south. I have never done this before. Any suggestions will be appreciated

Things that remind you that you're getting old...

On the mince pies I just have to throw in this cultural tidbit. My family is from Scotland-right off the boat as they say. Anyway we had mince pie at Christmas made with raisins and currents and candied orange rind, not my favorite either but they also made these small pies more like a large...

Which is better fresh fruit or commercial juice?

Thank you to all for your thoughtful advice. I think I will do the concentrate in the winter and fresh in the summer. We get some amazing peaches and apples in South Carolina. I found out some friends of a friend are making grape wine so i may be able to get some good fruit there in early fall...

Which is better fresh fruit or commercial juice?

I have not made wine in forty years but I am gonna. Question is should I use my old method of fresh fruit mash or try the newer things I am seeing about using commercial juice concentrate? My wine was once really good and I would like to know what others think. Thank you.

Thanks, I will try that. I made a bunch of labels last night on Microsoft works. They look okay but I know I will have to find decent paper to print them on. Any ideas?:cross:

    ez-wine labels

I have a good name for my wine in honor of my dog Murphy I plan to call it Wolfhound Wine and I want to make labels with his picture on them. I spent hours trying the free label sites on line and still no luck. Am I just being cheap or going to the wrong sites?

Pulling bottles from your neighbor's recycle bin - thrifty or across the line?

I am soon starting up my old hobby/obsessive wine making and I am going to get every source of bottles I can get including asking friends neighbors and local bars to save me their empties. We are going to sterilize them so why not?

Things that remind you that you're getting old...

Your vision is so bad you can't see your wrinkles without glasses. You are revisiting old hobbies and old boyfriends. Your grandbabies think you are more fun than a video game. You can now wear the close you wore in the seventies and be considered fashion forward. Your senior moments are more of...
