    Plumbing Question

I'm just curious if any of you have your plumbing set up so you don't have to do any hose changes throughout the brew day? I have 2 pumps and thinking I could set them up so I can avoid hose swaps on brew days...but for some reason it's just not totally clear to me how I would do that...any...

    Beer not carbonating

What Revvy says is true. Forget all the shiny gadgets, the best tool to have in your home brewery is patience. Take that case of bottles, stick them in a closet somewhere so you'll just forget about them for a while and move on to the next batch. There is a lot of information out there that...

    Cleaning Bottles

I agree. Unless they are FUNKY, just make up a solution of hot water and pbw. No need to scrub, just let the chemicals do their thing in hot water and you'll be good to go.

Can my Imperial Stout be saved?

I would boil some DME and add it in there. If you made a 3L starter, those yeasties are going to be looking for some food.

What equipment will i need for my first all-grain 5 Gallon batch?

The minimum you will need is a mash tun. There is a thread on here about converting a cooler. Take the parts list with you to Home Depot and get everything needed to assemble (it's not much). Slap your mash tun together and you're ready for your first all grain brew day.

Beer Filters, Do you use one?

The new BYO covers filtering options. It's a pretty decent read.

    Beginner Keg system

You can spend as much or as little as you want. I got my keg setup from my LHBS for $200 (included 1 corny, 10# co2 tank, dual regulator, gas/liquid tubing, quick disconnects and they even threw in some hose clamps). For a while I kegged and just stuck it in a fridge and used a party tap...

If you could share a pint with anyone, who would it be?

Anyone? George Washington, without a doubt. Im fascinated by him; but if it has to be someone currently alive, I would have to say Zach galafianakis...boy, talk about extremes lol

Planning my first big beers- How long?

I wouldn't over think it. Just go with your gut. There is no steadfast "rule". We're not building rockets, just making some beer, ya know? Let it bulk age in the secondary for a month, or 3 if you prefer, bottle it up and wait a month to crack one open. You'll know if its ready or not when you...

Planning my first big beers- How long?

Depending on how big that RIS is, it will take a while to carb up. Just bottle and leave them alone as long as you can stand it. I just bottled some RIS about 3 weeks ago and I'm sure it's not fully carbed, but I'm opening one tomorrow anyway bc I am too curious for my own good.

    Mash Tun Issue

I made an octagon shaped cpvc manifold, modeled after one i saw in another thread, and it works great. I wouldn't go back to the braid.

    IPA / Mitch Steele

It gives tips/grain bills/recipes, but it is more of a big book on the style, how it came about and historical accounts. The brewing network's Sunday Session recently did a show with him where they discussed the book.

    7 stitches later...

Man, I can't imagine smacking with a hammer. I was using an old school Big Ben that my great grandfather (a former homebrewer from waayy back in the day-1930's) handed down to me.

    7 stitches later...

It was a 12oz dogfish head bottle with recently bought caps from my LHBS. I was using a bench style capper. For the record, I finished bottling when I got home from the hospital lol. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone...I'm going to see how long I can milk this with swmbo
