    Bourbon County Stout clone attempt

It's still in the keg aging, but I think the bourbon level comes out pretty close. I did 4 oz of chips soaked in makers (approx 8oz), put the chips in alone for a couple weeks. Then put the cubes that were soaking in the same makers for 4-5 weeks along with the 8oz of makers. I'm happy with...

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

I brewed this yesterday. I may have used too much of the Sumatran coffee grounds, about 2.5 ounces too much. Also used Dutch process cocoa powder and cacao nibs. Hopefully it won't wreck it. It's happily bubbling away at ~65f right now.

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

it was as close as i've gotten so far. it's gone now unfortunately. Mine was clearer than Gumballhead, but that was probably because I used gelatin in the keg. Here's a pic...

So, you are at a non-craft beer place... What do you order?

As a homebrewer, are you somehow required to drink beer everywhere you go? Even if it's something you don't really like? If so, i'm f'ed... I don't drink beer with my meals usually. I don't even drink every night.... The horror! If there's something good, i'll get it, if not, i'll have...

I'm pretty sure Austin has zoning laws. You may be thinking of Houston.

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

The first version I made, last year, was according to the original recipe, and it really had a candied like sweetness, which I thought was great. This latest attempt was to get it a little closer to the actual Gumballhead. I think it's close, but i'll have to wait another couple weeks before I...

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

Just kegged mine tuesday. It tastes pretty good flat. It's cold crashing in the keezer right now, and carbing up. I'll be getting a 6er of gumballhead in a couple weeks, so i'll do some comparing then. It's definitely not as sweet as the original recipe, and obviously not as wheaty since I...

Have you ever been stuck on one beer? (yes) Ok, which?

Gumballhead (living in Texas makes that difficult), Live Oak Hefe, and 512 Pecan Porter

    Worst brew day ever.

This isn't even mentioning my cut hand, burn on the other hand from very very hot water, and later in the day, I cracked a tooth. Fun. I'm going to fix my pumps and test out the chiller by itself a bit more. It's hard to get a siphon with boiling wort.

    Worst brew day ever.

Yeah, the reassuring part is that most of the problems stemmed from me being a dumb ass, and getting used to how to use some of the equipment.

    Worst brew day ever.

I brewed my first batch on my brewtroller controlled system this morning. Single tier, 10 gal cooler mash tun, and one pump (I have another, but dropped it and broke the head). Also it was my first run with a Counterflow chiller. Heating mash water went fine, mash went fine. Preheated my...
