    American IPA Coconut IPA

For the coconut are you just buying it from the store and chopping it up yourself? Definitely interested in this recipe especially for summer!

Stone 15th Anniversary Escondidian Imperial Black IPA clone

Ah man, I remember going to Stones 11th Anniversary Brewfest, and tried this there and how awesome it was. I even got a pint glass and got to keep my tasting glass but both broke (so sad). I have yet to try this 15th anniversary one, is it a worthy replacement??

    New England IPA hater

I'd be impressed if there was a specific kind of ale that EVERYONE liked. To me I used to love the ol classic super bitter west coast IPAs found here, first I ever tried was Stone IPA probably about 11-12 years ago. I still do but I'm finding nowadays I really like the restrained bitterness...

American Wheat Beer Mosaic Honey Wheat

I don't see why not but me personally I would use Citra instead of Mosaic for jalapenos/peppers. Or maybe both??

Amarillo / Mosaic and Citra combinations?

Well you are shooting for the lower range of IBUs for the style, but bitterness is a preference. What I like to do to kind of gauge how bitter I'd want the beer is to check IBUs of commercial beers in the same style that you wanna go for. PseudoSue by Toppling Goliath is a pretty good APA...

Amarillo / Mosaic and Citra combinations?

Mosaic/Citra make a great combo by themselves (IE Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA) but Amarillo will be a good addition too. Are you using LME or DME? Could add some wheat extract. Given your target ABV and IBUs its safe to assume youre going for an American Pale Ale recipe? And you mention...

First time NEIPA, recipe check/water advice

I bet the water is a bit better down there, for sure the weather is haha. Yah I did notice the range and even with an average that's from accurate. I was thinking of just mixing RO and tap water since it looks like the tap isn't bad at all but I think your idea of just building from RO is...

First time NEIPA, recipe check/water advice

Hi there. This weekend I was going to attempt to brew a NEIPA for the first time, and from what I've gathered, water is very important for this style. I have no experience with building water but Ive read up a bit and managed to get a water report for my city (Murrieta, CA). I'm a bit...

Lagunitas sells to Heineken , another good brewery sells their soul to corpor...

Kinda strange when Lagunitas was basically founded on sticking it to the man and being rebels. However, big stinkin' deal, this is just another reason to homebrew! I'm more interested in all the local breweries opening up. In my area (Temecula, Murrieta, it's just north of San Diego if...

    Big IBU oops

Yah it seems a little crazy for the IBUs to be affected that much from extract. The IBUs were at normal levels until I changed the 6 lb extract addition to 15 minutes. Also, the 72 was the default, I'm sure the efficency will be better since it is after all extract only. And true, not so...

    Big IBU oops

So brewed my first extract beer a couple days ago, mostly everything went well aside from some clumping from the dry extract. Also, completely forgot to pick up a hydrometer before the LHBS closed. But the real problem I have is that I added 6 of 9 lbs of the extract with 15 mins left in the...

    Spellbound Brown Ale

    Brewing a black IPA

No prob! And yah I didn't really pay attention to the amounts, seems like that'll all just add a touch of chocolate and roast. But if you're trying to replicate a beer you tasted, I say do whatever you think is right for it and looks like you are well on your way to achieving your goal. Do...

    Brewing a black IPA

Being a new brewer I'm not the best to give comments. With that said, I would say there's going to be a lot of roasty/chocolatey/coffee flavors for even a black IPA, as well as being sweet and malty with the given base grains. Seems to me to appear as more of a hopped up stout. Not that...
