    Grits.......In Beer?

    Grits are ground hominy. Hominy is made by cooking corn in lye(basically just a very alkaline solution) until the corn puffs up like popcorn and the skins start to dissolve and are washed away. Simply ground corn would just be corn meal or the base for polenta.

    I just took a reading of 1.029 with Yeast suspended and 1.021 without Yeast suspended from the same batch at the same temperature...

    Thanks for the suggestions! I should say that I have one of the "professional" kitchen aids and I don't have any worry about burning out the motor.
