no i havent tried making a fig brew yet but i hope to this year , think ill make a lighter ale with some wheat and a clean yeast to help bring out the fig flavor , might have it in time for the sam adams longshot homebrew contest lol.

ive started to culture yeasts from other breweries maybe i can capture the chimay strain and try using it

yeah i would just sanitize everything and it should be good to go, but if ur unsure you could try doing a few bottles with reusing some screwtops and see how it goes

indeed, next spring ill have to try making a fig beer with what i can muster and use some homegrown hops :)

i wonder if maybe some flavor comes from the type of fermentation vessel they use maybe its a copper that adds a flavor or something like that, i too quest for a perfect clone of chimay , also trying to make a westvleteren 12 clone...well see how that goes hope my recipe is close.

humm i dunno if the raspberries you used still had seeds in them maybe that could be why , i made a raspberry beer with a can of seedless puree raspberries and it had good flavor i think it was a 49 oz can.

ive got the yeast from the flying fish exit 4 american triple but thats all ive got havent done yeast snatching in a while

yeah i made a ipa with cascades and it smelled great but after bottling the hops mellowed out a bit , it was still really good but next time ill probably do more to account for this so i say do the dry hop. my 2 cents :)

just by making a beer with such ingredients and then being able to taste that they are there or buy a beer with types of ingredients and then see how well you can tell them apart , it takes a little time to be able to taste the difference between all the different flavors in beers.

regardless of anything theres nothing to lose in my book by repitching yeast other then a few bucks , it can only help to have the extra healthy yeast , but thats just what i would do i that situation.
