    Adding Back Water?

This. I have to top off because I brew a concentrated wort (stovetop) and add water into the fermenter for my total batch volume. My volumes are generally right on with what brewzor calc expects them to be though. Finding out if it's disappearing in the mash vs the boil will tell you if topping...

What are your favorite beer apps for Android?

The full brewzor recipe builder app didn't really do it for me, but I love the brewzor calculator. I use it every time. It's my go-to for fine-tuning temperature and volume calcs on brew day. For pretty much everything else, I use brewer's friend. Android or no, that is my primary recipe...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Just sitting on the porch enjoying my last bottle of this recipe and remembering how much I like it. Definitely gonna have to brew this again soon!

    Beer gift basket ides

Those both sound great! Never thought of making my own seasoned pretzels/crackers. All great stuff, thanks everyone for the ideas

Giving away beer, receiving money for ingred.

^^ This. But if a friend comes over with a big bag of grain for my birthday, I'm probably not gonna chase him up the street if I'm a few bottles light when he leaves. :tank:

    Beer gift basket ides

Ok, so I don't have a lot of money to buy presents for friends and family and my wife and I generally resort to tons of home made cookies and candy for Christmas gifts. This year I have a batch of homebrew to throw into the mix and looking for some new ideas of home made/baked goodies to pack...

Moving the fermenter to cold crash

So here's my dilemma... I have my beer chilling in a 3 week primary. I hit FG over a week ago, and have been just letting it relax until I had a good day off to bottle. I was going to bottle on Sat and have 2 options. 1. Move it to the garage to cold crash, clear across the house and will...

    Storing grains mixed/crushed

This was oddly enough something that ran across my mind today on the way home from the LHBS. Would it make any difference in the end product if the grains for a specific recipe hung out together all crushed for a bit before brewing?

    Time Efficient Brewing

This has all pretty much been covered but thought I'd chime in. I brew inside on the stove so I have to set up/ take down all the equipment that day. The things I found that helped me be more efficient on brew-day: First thing I do is grab my HLT and start heating water for the mash before I...

    BrewersFriend

I have been using BrewersFriend since I started as well. Full featured but still very easy to use, I highly recommend it. Also pulls up nice on my phone, which is very handy when I'm at the LHBS and can just look up the grain bill for my recipe right there.

    Removing hop bags

I pull mine, but due to my setup, it would be a pain to chill with the bag in. Still trying to find a good way to get my IC into the boil for 10 with a strainer bag stretched around the rim of the pot. :/

    forms of extract

Here's a link to a writeup by Ken Schwartz about converting recipes. I know that's not exactly what you are up to, but it really helped me understand the relationships between dry, liquid and grain. He also talks about easy ways figure out how much of either you can combine from different...

    dry hop time-techniques

This. WHen I did the bag, I racked my brain for something stainless that was clean enough to throw into my beer... then I just grabbed a spoon outta the silverware drawer (sanitized of course.)

Any BIAB dunk sparge calculator out there that people have proved?

I actually use the Brewzor calc on my Android and it is pretty much spot on every time. But you have to know your boil off rate and enter your pre-boil volume so that may not help you find the error. I am a little confused at how you could be 4 gal off... that's almost 50%. That said, I have...

    Boring Brewer?

I was just thinking about this the other day about myself. I do feel boring (not bored) as a brewer sometimes, but I don't get to brew as often as I'd like due to always being home alone with my 1yr old. I find myself using every opportunity just to keep the house blonde (which happens to be...
