    buying Clarity Ferm in bulk

I assume a bit of 'overpitching' of the enzyme would not be a problem? For batches smaller than 5g, White Labs recommends pitching the whole vial. I wonder what they cut it with? Distilled water should be fine? I have a bunch of vials, I'd like to fill them all to minimize the number of times...

    Clarity Ferm in a Graff?

I'm adding CF to Graff's for gluten reasons and can report it works very well for that. Side effect (for me) is that it is crystal clear! edit: clicked on this thread in the 'similar thread' box, didn't check how old it was!

    buying Clarity Ferm in bulk

Canehdianman - also in Canada and interested in knowing where you got a larger container from! I did a bunch of looking about a year ago and didn't have any luck. I put it in every brew and am currently coughing up the $5 a batch. In true cheapskate homebrewer form, it burns me!

    How do I store lees?

Does anyone have any tips for washing yeast from a cider as opposed to beer? I've washed beer yeast many times, but haven't done cider yeast because there is so little sediment left after a batch. Do you follow the same procedure, just end up with only one jar of washed yeast?

American Pale Ale Bennington Wedding Ale - A crowd pleaser

The Chinook tends towards a grapefruit profile, and it shone through more than I expected. I had some trying to create a brew similar to Rogue's Yellow Snow IPA. I thought the 60 minute addition would not greatly impact the final flavour profile outside of bitterness but I was wrong. The...

American Pale Ale Bennington Wedding Ale - A crowd pleaser

Just finishing off the last half glass of this - it was great! Followed your recipe as close as I could - I did sub Chinook for the Centenial, and 6oz 40L + 6 oz 120L crystals for the 12oz 80L :o Many thanks!

    MO SMaSH!!

Want to try this, but necessity requires a (hopefully inconsequential!) change - I don't have any MO Crystal, and couldn't easily find a Canadian source - so I'm going to try making my own. There are a few tutorials around to help you make it in your own oven. If it turns out, into this brew it...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Just put on another batch tonight (was mulling some wine, and felt like doing a brew!) and had .5 oz of chinook, a personal favorite hop; it's about 12%, so we'll see how it goes! I've made about half a dozen batches of this, but always stuck with a noble hop like fuggles, or NZ Hallertau. We'll...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Congrats on your first brew goaliemanpat, welcome! You've found the right place for all kinds of info, as I'm sure you've seen. The apple flavour is present, if not strong. Certainly nowhere near what a glass of apple juice has. I would definitely not recommend boosting it, you'll come to...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I don't think I'd forgo the hops, they're a pretty integral part of the recipe. Also, if you don't boil, I'd say your risk of infection is a lot higher. Fine to scale the recipe back to a gallon (why? It's so good!) but I don't think the changes your suggesting are a good idea. But, hey, just...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I'm ready to bottle some, and was wondering if I should go with crowns or corks? If I'm going to hold on to it as long as suggested - a couple of years - seems to me corks would be the choice? I've also got some Grolsh bottles.

    Hoptical Illusion - Robert Simpson

Felt I should update this 'review'. Seems like RS/Funky Monkey must've been having some problems with QC/batch control. I talked to some other people, who said they'd had this beer and enjoyed it at times, felt it lacking others. I recently picked up a 6 and found it to be very good. Nice hop...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Ok, so it's been 6 weeks, and it's starting to clear nicely. You can almost see the yeast dropping out, it's about 2/3 of the way down now. Just a little longer. I've been good, and haven't sampled it!

    Flour Mill for grinding grain?

I would ask that this this thread not be hijacked into a brewing style debate, and that we simply discuss the merits of this mill. Thank you

    Flour Mill for grinding grain?

$350? Ha, I didn't pay $50 :ban: Have to love yard sales! You've got an excellent point, and I may sell it and buy a roller mill, although I have done BIAB, so maybe it's just the thing for me. Anyways, it's a good problem to have. I've been reading a bit about the mill, and it's a very...
