Passive cooling for PVC draft tower

It worked well when I was using it. Switched over to a chest freezer a while back for more keg space!

Clone Beer Founder's Breakfast Stout Clone

Wow, there are a lot of pages on this one. I read through the first two and last 8 or so. Just wondering, when people are posting recently that the recipe compares favorably with the Founder's version, are they generally talking about the recipe in the OP? There were some variations discussed...

Brew & A: Stian "Mongster" Mong

Hey - totally did not know that about the late addition of dark malts to the mash (giving color but not so much flavor). Will have to give it a try sometime. Very cool!

High ABV beer with high FG not carbing in keg

Oops - sorry I missed your post. I ended up doing exactly the same thing.

My first BIAB attempt was a success. Mostly.

I know what you mean about the excitement of switching to all grain, as it's only been in the last couple years that I did so. Due to that fact, feel free to take anything I might say with a grain of salt! Many don't squeeze the bag, but I do. Scenarios like you describe are the exact reason...

    First ever brew=horrible mash temps!

I'm also a 5 gallon batch / 15 gallon pot brewer. I'd echo the comments on mash times not needing a full hour. I find that my 2 layer reflectix jacket and an old comforter are enough to hold temps without firing the burner. Not perfect, but close enough for me!

Brewer's Friend A Whole New Experience

I use Brewer's Friend for every brew day. I was getting a little nervous that it seemed to be a platform that had stagnated. Glad to hear that is not the case!

No kreusen with 05 in a dark beer?

I used US05 in an imperial stout a couple months ago, and as I recall, there was krausen. Looking back at my notes, I rehydrated, but I don't think that this would account for the presence or absence of krausen once things got rolling. The fact that the gravity is dropping is an encouraging...

High ABV beer with high FG not carbing in keg

Mine are outside the keezer, so they're at basement temp. That's interesting though!

High ABV beer with high FG not carbing in keg

That's probably a little safer than rolling the thing around, but still a little more aggressive than what I'm doing now. I'll give it a go.

High ABV beer with high FG not carbing in keg

Absolutely zero foam... I've never done it, but I am thinking of rolling the keg on the floor with some pressure applied.

High ABV beer with high FG not carbing in keg

That was my original thought too. Hate to admit how many times I've had one shutoff in the wrong position :drunk: Gas is definitely on. Big rush of gas when the relief valve is pulled, etc. It's just being obstinate.

High ABV beer with high FG not carbing in keg

Hi all, I have an imperial stout that finished out around 1.025 with an ABV of 9.75%. Finished higher than I wanted, but so be it. I normally force carb in the keg, cold crashing to around 36-38 degrees, then letting the beer sit at around 30 PSI for a day, then a week at serving pressure...

30# grain bill in 15g pot?

You called it - 75% on the nose. Would have been a touch higher, but I lost a few quarts to the garage floor in a slight mishap. I topped off to make up the volume, seeing as how I'd only planned on 70% for this batch anyway.

30# grain bill in 15g pot?

The tipped bucket was the tricky bit.
