    Bung stuck!!!!!

Got a spare bung? Put some star-san on the top of the bung that's stuck, shove that bad boy all the way in, then use your spare bung. Once the beer's racked out of the better bottle, you can do the plastic bag trick. If you don't have a spare bung, this is a really good excuse to go get one...

Ever wanted to watch a fellow homebrewer stung by a bee?

That was awesome. If you're a smoker, tobacco is awesome for the stings. Just get a little pinch wet and hold it on the spot you got stung with some tape or a band-aid or something. You'll look at it in a couple of hours and wonder why you have a band-aid on then you'll remember you got...

Food Grade Dry Ice Cooling didnt work

That's some dangerous stuff. And, the worst part of it is that fish have sex in it. Icky.

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

This is still my favorite thread on here, even after 3 months of ice fishing instead of brewing. I need to dust off all my brewing gear and get another batch in the works so I can show off my ugly junk, too!

    Heinous low FG

You should start a new thread. But! When you top off, if it's not mixed well enough the heavy extract sinks to the bottom, away from your hydrometer. That'll make it read lower than it really is. Given that most of your fermentables would come from the LME, you can just assume the OG was...

    Frozen Iodophor?

I was really smart and kept my iodophor in unheated storage during a New England winter. Went to bottle up some beer a few minutes ago, and lo and behold, when it is 3 degrees at sunrise, you might have some frozen stuff in unheated areas. Go figure... I've got it in a water bath right now...

    A Question For Revvy

I've had good success with both of those methods, just don't tea-bag the cat. Bad idea.

Got some free buckets, but with loose lids...

He doesn't have a problem, he can stop watching them anytime he wants!

    Bottling

I'd drink one a week, since it's your first batch. It'll give you an idea of how it changes over time. I usually use at least one clear bottle, too. Then you can look at it to see when the yeast has dropped out and you know they won't taste yeasty then. That doesn't mean they're done...

    Trapped without a pint glass

My lack of knowing what a shaker glass is might be an indication that I choose to drink out of mason jars. What the heck is a shaker glass, anyway? Also, don't knock it till you've tried it. I've had the same beer in one of those Sam Adams glasses and a mason jar. Little difference...

    Trapped without a pint glass

See if you can find a mason jar. They come a close second for me. Old ladies always have mason jars, don't they? Short of a mason jar, you could always break a glass and slice yourself with the shards, the pain might distract you for a few minutes.

Ever wonder how UPS handles "Fragile, Glass inside" labels?

I used to work at UPS loading the trailers. They train you to squish boxes. Keeps them packed in tight for shipping, donchano. The lighter ones are less likely to get abused, as long as they're not light enough to throw. I'd say between a six pack and a 12 pack would survive the best. But...

How the hell do I stop my sister's cat from stealing my yeast?

That's why you need to offer it some! Have a spray bottle handy, and scream like you're taking the dump the cat took if it tries to touch it.

Getting started, Need input and correction

They use them, they just don't take a lot of samples. If you leave it long enough, it should be done fermenting, but you really should check the gravity to make sure it's done. Of course, there are people that use a refractometer instead, but they're still checking the gravity.
